Yesterday I got pushed way out of my comfort zone... and honestly, Iām really grateful for it. š¤š«¶š¼
When Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter asked me to emcee their Lights, Camera, Adoptable event, I immediately said yes. Then reality hit. š
I know how to talk to people. I know how to advocate for dogs. But working a crowd and emceeing an event is a whole different skill set.
Thankfully, I have some pretty amazing people in my corner.
Phil (my mansss) connected me with the incredibly talented Austin Lyons from Party 105.3 so I could pick his brain, learn some tips and tricks, and hopefully calm my nerves a little. Austin was beyond generous with his time and knowledge, and I walked out of there feeling so much more prepared for this event.
Then he hit me with, āWant to go on air and talk about the event and your boutique?ā
My internal response? ABSOLUTELY NOT. š
My actual response? āSure!ā
So we did it. We went live on Party 105.3 yesterday and talked about the event, the boutique, and of course... the reactive dog community that has my entire heart.
A huge thank you to Austin for not only being incredibly talented at what he does, but for taking the time to help someone who was completely outside their comfort zone.
And a huge thank you to Phil, who somehow always ends up behind the scenes believing in me before I believe in myself. You continuously push me to grow, challenge me to get uncomfortable, and help me become a better person every day.
Growth doesnāt happen when youāre comfortable.
So hereās to doing scary things. š¤
And if youād like to see me put Austinās advice to use, come join us at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelterās Lights, Camera, Adoptable event on Saturday, June 6th from 10AMā4PM and watch some incredible adoptable dogs walk the red carpet. š¾š¬
