City of Hernando Animal Shelter We are a small shelter operated by the City of Hernando. We also protect the citizens of Hernando by enforcing animal related state laws and city ordinances.

Our goal is to improve and protect the lives of animals in our city by spaying/neutering, vaccinating, finding responsible homes for the strays who come into our care, and by enforcing animal protection laws. Our primary goal is to make Hernando the most animal friendly City in northern Mississippi.

Here at the Hernando Animal Shelter we are very thankful for our wonderful volunteer Denton who gave our sweet boy Duke a fun day before he heads out to his forever home. They had loads of fun at play time. He also helped us clean and feed our sweet cats and pups and keep our shelter safe and clean. We’d like to send out a heartfelt thank you to Aurora Womack for her wonderful donation and support for our shelter pups and cats. Aurora decided to do her American Heritage Girls level award project asking her community for donations. She was able to donate pet toys for our sweet furry friends and cleaning supplies to help keep our shelter nice and clean. She also volunteered her time while here and helped clean the cat room. Aurora, Your kindness and compassion are truly appreciated and we are grateful for your support and love for our shelter animals.
