🐾 Meet Simba – Our Current Shelter Training Pup! 🐾

We took Simba out on the town, and he did absolutely amazing!

His adventure began with a photo pit stop, where he listened to all of his commands like a champ.

Next, we treated him to a pup cup from our local Scooters. He was such a good boy, waiting patiently for his special treat, and you should have seen the surprise on his face when he received it!

Afterward, we headed to the skate park and walking trails. Simba showed off some impressive skills and thoroughly enjoyed a stroll through nature, soaking in the sights and sounds all around him.

One of the Best highlights of his day was experiencing a car wash, which he absolutely loved! It was wonderful to see him enjoying every moment of his outing.

✨Simba is currently in training and will come fully equipped for his new home. His new owners will receive a consultation and free refresher sessions if needed, ensuring a smooth transition! ✨

🚨It's important to note that Simba is Dog Reactive and would thrive in a home as the only dog. He is extremely sweet with people and has a playful side. Just like most shelter pups, Simba will need time to adjust to his new environment, so patience will be key. He would do wonderfully with an active family or couple who can provide the love and attention he deserves.

✨Katniss: Looking for a Forever Home!✨
Today was a bittersweet day for our girl, Katniss. 💖 Unfortunately, after yet another potential adoption fell through (not because of anything regarding her), she had to return to the shelter today. A place that has been slowly and painfully weighing on her spirit.

But before heading back, we made sure she had an adventure to remember!

Our first stop was a gas station! With her gentle demeanor, she let folks pet her through the window without a single bark or fuss. She’s such a smart girl, bursting with love to give, and it warmed my heart to see her light up in those small moments of connection. She also did wonderfully in the car, sitting calmly and enjoying the ride.

Next up was the highlight of her day…
Starbucks for her very first pup cup! ☕🐶
She patiently waited for her order, and when she finally got her treat, she savored every last drop! This reminded us of all the simple things in life that she deserves. Like a warm bed, a loving family, and the freedom to run and play.

Lastly, we took a stroll around Hernando Square. Katniss met a few new friends along the way, showcasing her impressive skills (and all of this was just with a slip lead; imagine how incredible she is with her training equipment!). She remained calm and collected, waiting patiently at crosswalks and showing no interest in chasing cars. This adventure truly highlighted the amazing companion she could be in a forever home.

While she would likely thrive as an only pup, don’t let that stop you from giving her a chance! She is open to meet-and-greets to see if she’ll be compatible with another dog. We believe she may do well with older kids (10+), and her playful and loving nature makes her a wonderful fit for a loving home.

Hello Hernando and beyond! We are still in search of rescue for this sweet family (momma and 4 babies) born in the shelter 4 weeks ago. As you can see babies are up and moving around now and eyes fully open. The shelter general population is no place for this family and momma is stressing more and more! She needs out as well as her babies. Please help share to rescues and help get this sweet family pulled from this stressful environment. If you can foster for rescue please let us know. It could help in finding a good rescue for this sweet furry family!

We’d like to take a moment and send a huge thank you first to The K9 Consultant for putting on this amazing event for the shelter. Next to all the vendors,food trucks and car show participants who showed up and participated, thank you. We appreciate you coming out and sharing your day and great items and cars with us. We hope you had a wonderful day at the Easter Paw Palooza. We’d also like to thank all the youth from the Mayors Youth Council who came out and helped with this event. Your help was greatly appreciated. And lastly, Thank you to all the great citizens who brought your kids and animals out to join us for all the great festivities. We hope you all had a great time and enjoyed your day with us. We had a great turnout for photos with the Easter Bunny as well. These pics are just a few of the many that came and joined in. Hello Hernando and beyond! We have zero cages available. No pop-up cages now as all are full. Isolation is full and everything in the back is full - our job is already hard as it is but when we have zero adoptions and dogs constantly coming in, being dumped and etc…it makes it hard for us to get other animals. Everyone wants the animal helped but no one wants to adopt. We need your help! Please share. We need these babies out into homes so we can help others out there! Please share our sweet babies ready for adoption. The ones available are listed in the photo album listed pets available for adoption. Others are coming soon once seen by the vet and their hold time is up.

Please note, These sweet babies are going crazy sitting in here! the demeanor is changing and the stress level is so high that they are loosing weight being stressed out. Some have been there for 2 years and others a year. It’s a jail cell and it’s not fair to them to stay in there. We can only do so much for them as it takes all day to be with each one. We need everyone’s help to get these babies good homes!

Our photo album labeled animals available for adoption has most of what we have available. Some are coming soon once they get seen by the vet!

Update: after a day of wandering around and ending up in the shelter for the night, sweet Cole has gone home. 🐾❤️🐾

Help, I’m lost. I was wandering the streets of Hernando and am searching for my human. If you know where I belong, please share in hopes of getting me back home. Proof of ownership and rabies required! Must also provide name on collar (can only read first, rest is worn off).

Update:: Thank you for all the shares. After spending the day exploring downtown hernando ending up behind Magnolia soap, and then joining us at the shelter for a day, sweet Sox has gone home.

Help, I’m lost. I was found in the basement behind magnolia soap and am looking for my humans. If you know where I belong, please share in hopes to help me get back home. Proof of ownership and rabies required.

It’s always fun when we get to join in the fun of the town and last night we got to join in on the HMS cheerleaders scavenger hunt. We had fun as well as this sweet girl who got love from a great group of girls ready to give love. Come check her out as well as all of our sweet babies we have on hand.
