The National Weather Service has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for Athens County in effect from 1:00PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2026, until 8:00PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 103 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and central, northern, southern, and western West Virginia.

* WHEN...From 1:00PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2026, until 8:00PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives, neighbors, pets and livestock.

•Dog Park dedication.
•Discuss ongoing projects for Ohio One Time Strategic Community Investment Grant, award $130,000.00.
