We made it to seven weeks! Muddy hasnā€™t completely lost his mind yet, we are completely off of all medication for the time being and he looks justā€¦ šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼šŸ„¹ His leg is looking pretty amazing, all things considered. Itā€™s not always about how hard they work, or what you accomplish that day. Donā€™t ever forget the value in showing up.
Walking out, haltering your horse, and showing them a little structure builds more confidence than a short term mind frame will ever understand.
All of a sudden things that were detrimental, are just a normal part of a routine and itā€™s getting easier. Brick by brick. šŸ§±

Chick understood the assignment when she got to try the indoor life out. We have done a little re evaluating on her set up, and she is getting the opportunity to go to the Dash and Dance in Spearfish this July. Iā€™m thinking about offering a mini group session 1X per week. Iā€™m feeling super flexible on this but I think it could be way fun!

Weā€™re all somewhat back in the swing of hauling our horses, and having and idea of what we need or want to work on as well as ourselves.
This small group session with involve tack/bit evaluation, under saddle work (mostly geared towards the barrel pattern) andd then an elective therapy session to follow!
I offer equivibe, equipod or spectra laser therapy. If none of those tickle your fancy, I will credit $10 to a session of your choosing with CK Equine LLC (you must book and schedule with her privately.)

ā€¢ Three spots per session so this will be very involved and interactive for everyone participating

ā€¢ $100 per session

Itā€™s so dang fun watching young horses come into themselves. I spent all week fading this c**t away from the first because when he gets to running he wants to lean into the turn. How committed are you to the process of a young horse? We all want the forever bond, the pride to say we RAISED that baby and brought them up with our own two handsā€¦. But are you ready for the tough part? The tantrums, and the we canā€™t always be best friends because they demand a leader to be successful? Wellā€¦ at the very least I know my girl Jennifer Leigh McVey is. Rain, shine and everything in between she has poured her heart and soul into this filly. Downpour as we start our lesson? Letā€™s ride! Iā€™m so overwhelmingly proud of her and I canā€™t wait to watch this team grow. šŸ©·

āš”ļø Yes they need to take a pull, we WILL pull on them, even when we swear we wonā€™tā€¦ we will.

āš”ļø However, when you have a horse fighting you every step around that barrel they are more worried about you, and working against you than anything else.

āš”ļø I want my horse being accountable. I want them elevated, square and picking their feet up THROUGH the turn. Not just in their approach, not just when they leave, they are fast and efficent when they work all the way through.
āš”ļø In the picture below this gal got in the ground a little far, it was a little heavyā€¦ but she was READY for it! She squared up, she picked up her feet; and she 4WD through her turn! Go off Wicked Queen!

šŸ”„ If your horse is FALLING to the ground in all sorts of pens, letā€™s stop blaming the ground, and letā€™s teach our horses to carry themselves.
(Yes thereā€™s bad ground, that is not the point of this post, block me if you donā€™t like it.)
