Ridiculous picture to accompany an above and beyond frustrating post that we didn’t think we’d ever have to make.

June’s Room will NOT be at Shanty Days in Algoma this weekend. This sucks because it’s such a fun crowd and Tony lives for the trip he gets to make out of it every year. He left straight from Titletown last night, to get to his camping spot and get ready for the weekend ahead.

Somehow, in the chaos of everything, we were listed as a brand new vendor. Between this and building construction, we were moved to a new location altogether. This was expected and communicated as a possibility. What was not communicated, was that the new location that we may be moved to, was around the corner, behind a full row of vendors facing outward, tucked between a building and trees with no clear path for customer flow. There were a total of 3 vendors moved to this spot so it’s not enough vendors to draw a flow of people. After trying to troubleshoot for an hour, we made the difficult decision to withdraw ourselves from the show as our time and resources can be better used elsewhere.

We are so sorry to our customers that we know have been excitedly waiting to see us there. We were so excited to see you all too!

We’re just going to call this the week of big truths…

Here’s our hot take- You guys scare the ever living everything out of us.

I just ran a report because I thought that June’s Room was failing to keep up… I couldn’t be further from wrong and I am grateful to admit that.

In the last 11 days (so, post EAA), we have sold more bandanas than the rest of the year altogether. Just sit in that feeling of insanity for a minute. It’s hard to fully grasp while you’re in the muck at all of these events. It is absolutely insane (and) the coolest thing that’s ever happened to us all in one.

Please give us a week of grace to adjust to this massive influx in demand and we’ll be set to lean into it…fully and completely. We cannot do this without all of you and love any chance we get to see your faces…and your pets’ faces. Mainly those but we’ll accept either🤪

Can we be real with you guys for a second? We absolutely LOVE what we do and we LOVE the opportunities that we have as a small business. We have had so much fun and we don’t want it to stop. So let’s talk about the elephant in the room- protected material.

This may include:
• Your favorite wizard, vampire, cartoon character, or internationally acclaimed artist.
• Your favorite sports ball team. Especially them. Even riskier if you live in the same city as that team.
• Designs directly derived from the ideas of someone else.
• Anything related to the military or any other professional organization.

“Why do they care?”

• In the same way that we like to take care of our brand’s image, they do as well. If everyone was allowed to use their likeness, the chances of it being misused and misrepresented increase drastically.

“Yeah, but it’s not like they’re going to do anything about it. What’s one person selling a couple things with their logo on it?”

• We are not willing to find out, but we know from others’ experiences that it gets pricy quick. These organizations have people walking around events, more often than you’d realize taking pictures to document it. They also have a nearly unlimited legal budget that little ol’ June’s Room can’t match.

“So then, why does XYZ fabric store sell their fabric if you can’t use it?”

• You can absolutely use it on a personal level, but the selvage will always explain that you are not to use it for means of making profit. Heck, we make gifts for friends with it all the time but nothing more than that.

What do we do instead?

• June’s Room has all kinds of limited release “inspired” prints. In the past these have included Wisconsin sports ball team inspired prints, mystical magical wizard inspired prints, and that blonde pop star that took the world by storm inspired prints. These usually come to be when Abby is walking through a quilt store and says “YOU KNOW WHAT THIS REMINDS ME OF?!,” gets excited, and buys the whole bolt.

• We also accept our losses. We get told daily that someone would buy it if we would “just use the material anyway.” While we appreciate this hypothetical, we’re just going to keep doing us.

And for your Monday laugh… Mor and I were on a run because it keeps the crazies at bay and all I hear is a little kid say “IS THAT A DINGO?!” Personally, I had assumed she was part piranha, coyote, or maybe even hyena but now I’ll add dingo to the list.

By the way, if you ever wanted to run a 6 minute mile with a dog that’ll bounce like a rabbit the entire time and make you look slow…she is always available for rent. I might even pay you so I can have a break🤣

Want to know a secret? We have a love for the Courtyard Market of Menasha because of the variety of local vendors we have the honor to coexist with and support..

Sundays are for snackin’ our way around including:

• All Thing’s Hot dog- unfortunately Tony doesn’t let this sit for long enough for me to grab a picture, but he highly recommends anything on their menu, especially the Italian Beef. I’ll update to add a pic of this when he goes back for round two this afternoon😂

• Native Taste I am HOOKED on their fry bread, especially with a caramel drizzle😋

• Bumbleberry Bakery English muffin bread? Say less.

• Lemonade by Releve Dance Team added on iced coffee and it has been the perfect pick me up☕️

You’ve heard of Freaky Friday, sure… but have you heard Terrible Tradeoff Thursday?

• Tony is home lasering fabric unsupervised… we are proud to announce that only ONE piece of fabric started on fire (so far). Fabric is one of the harder mediums that we run because it is so lightweight so while this sounds scary, it actually might be an accomplishment!

• We have a new employee training on her own in the booth tonight at Titletown. Be nice to her, she wasn’t properly socialized and has no clue what’s going on🤪

📢WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT

With safety as our top priority and having consulted with the National Weather Service and local meteorologists, we have made the decision to CANCEL tonight's Farmers' Market on Broadway — Wednesday, July 16.

This decision comes in light of a Flash Flood Watch currently in effect, along with forecasts of high winds and potential risk of severe storms.

We can't wait to see you back on Broadway next week!
