And just like that, six months has come and gone. Too quickly. Last October, we picked up Boone and R***r on the way home from our VGP in Kansas. Boone and R***r were two year old GWP rescues that had been surrendered. I can’t stress enough how nervous we were to take on the challenge of these two. We didn’t know what to expect and had only prayed we could turn these two into the hunting dogs they deserved to be.
We didn’t even have the chance to meet our clients Lisa and Lance when we picked them up in Oklahoma on the way home as they were out of town - they gave us their full trust to take them back to Texas with us and spend the next 6 months training them.
Little did we know how much these dogs would have an impact on us. If they weren’t going to the most perfect owners, we would have swooped them up in a heartbeat. They’ve spent the past six months learning the ups and downs of obedience, waterfowl, and upland. We have watched them completely transform and become some of the best hunting dogs we’ve had the pleasure of working with.
Yesterday was the first time we met Lance and Lisa and handed off Boone and R***r. We got to spend the day together showcasing all they’ve learned. We are so grateful for wonderful clients who put their trust in us to turn these dogs into hunting machines and loyal companions. Yesterday couldn’t have gone better.
It’s been emotional seeing them leave but they couldn’t have gone to more perfect owners. They will live the rest of their lives out hunting and having the best of experiences. I can’t wait to make a trip up to Oklahoma to hunt over them and see them again.
