Day 4 of posting Scar until he finds a foster or furever home! 💜

Scar is pictured here with ZAR alum, Jaxon (formerly Panda)! He loves playing with dogs of all sizes and has done fabulously with Jaxon, who is 50lbs.

While Scar is working on potty training, he has practically mastered the kennel already!

He loves to cuddle with his foster brothers, and he’s very confident and loves to play. Scar will run around the living room playing with his foster siblings, and he’s super goofy! Scar has a little quirk where he’s loud when playing and barks if someone has a toy he wants, lol!

We have an EMERGENCY! 🚨

We are disappointed that one of our very special adopted dogs is being returned to us. We are seeking an urgent and immediate foster. 💔 She is an incredible dog. So... meet April — a truly special girl who has spent her life devoted to caring for others. April is being rehomed after serving as a service dog, and she’s now looking for a loving home that won't fail her where she can continue to be someone’s steady, loyal companion.

April is Deep Pressure Therapy trained and heart-rate alert trained, making her calm, comforting, and incredibly intuitive to emotional cues. She is fully potty, kennel, and leash trained, and we have been told that her gentle demeanor makes her wonderful with kids, cats, small dogs, and even reptiles and other small animals. She’s also comfortable around livestock, showing just how adaptable and respectful she is. At this time, we are seeking a foster home with no other animals so we can reevaluate this report.

An important note: April does best as the only large dog in the home. She thrives when she can focus on her humans and happily coexist with smaller animal friends, but prefers not to share space with other big dogs.

Affectionate, cuddly, and always ready for quality snuggle time, April brings a calm, grounding presence wherever she goes. After years of helping others, she’s ready to be someone’s beloved companion — not just a working partner, but a deeply connected best friend.

Today was probably one of our most successful adoption events to date. Our jaws were on the floor the whole time, and we still cannot believe the success of the day!!!

We can't wait to share the great news with everybody. Thank you to everyone who shares our posts - so many people who came for a specific dog said it was because they saw them on social media!!

Also, this is Tater now! He is 9 years old and going through heartworm treatment. He is about 30lbs and a low rider. Tater is looking for a calm home to live out his golden days. 💜

Day 3 of posting Scar until he finds a foster or furever family!

This cute boy is 8-weeks-old and looking for love. Scar is a goofy and outgoing little guy. He loves to play and chew on everyone and everything, then when he gets tired he will crawl on top of you and snuggle in for a nap.

Our dream is to have an event in Navasota, Grimes County.

K-9 Angels Rescue - Houston, TX started The Empty Shelter Project-Texas in 2017, after realizing we can't adopt or transport our way out of pet over population.

While the rescue continues to operate (placing 180 dogs and 777 cats in new homes in 2025) our overall focus is 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐘 & 𝐍𝐄𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒, reducing the problem before it starts.

𝐁𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬:
🐾In 2025 we altered 8,211 dogs and cats, a 30% increase over 2024!
🐾To date, 31,500 pets have been altered, microchipped and vaccinated at our FREE events
🐾By preventing unnecessary litters, we have saved the community over $14M in shelter costs

K-9 Angels operates with annual expenses of $1M, covered by donations, grants, adoption revenues and a charitable trust donation.
