Never thought I’d have to make this post, but I banned an individual last night. 2 things I will NEVER tolerate are 1. Breed shaming (joking around like with Chihuahua’s is ok) and 2. Racial profiling. If you can’t accept this then go ahead and see yourself out

Sometimes I don’t feel like going out or I’m just catching up on housework. Not only does Goose and other service dogs need to be able to task out in public, but also at home. This might seem simple to some because, well they’re at home, right? At home is where they’re most comfortable and allowed to be dogs and run and play. They can give into those distractions and temptations. But they need to be able to ignore them when needed. So when at home “we fake it to train it” and continue to work on the impulse of wanting the toys or to play with the other dogs. This is extremely difficult for Goose because he’s so toy and play driven, but he always does so well.

Took the kiddos to Grand Station last night. Goose did so well for his first time in that type of setting. He was able to task when needed; whether it was DPT for my heart rate or picking things up that I dropped. I got a few compliments on his behavior. He was so good that Austin won him a duck out of the claw machine (he’s obsessed lol). I’m so very proud of him and all the obstacles he’s overcome and how much we’ve grown as a team.

-Emotional support animals (ESA’s) do NOT have the same rights (except housing) as a service animal or service animal in training (Varies by state).

-ESA’s don’t go through the extensive training that service animals do. ESA’s provide emotional support, (hence the name) while service dogs are trained to help mitigate their handler’s disability(ies).

-Traveling with a service animal is like traveling with a toddler, yes even going to the grocery store. Some have gear/equipment that has to be taken.

-ESA’s are pets while service animals are seen as medical equipment or medically necessary. Any animal can be an ESA but it takes a truly special animal to do service work.
