We make a deal every time we welcome a new animal into our lives. They give us their best every single day and in return when things are at their worst we do what’s hardest for us, but best for them.

We had to say goodbye to Pud. She had a rare and sudden spinal condition that surgery couldn’t fix. The prognosis from the neurologist was grim and best case scenario was she’d live a miserable life. So I sent her off to be with all the good boys and girls any of us have ever loved.

Dog heaven is real and I hope they’ll let me in there when it’s my time. I know she’s in the very best company and had only one bad day in her short, joyful, mischievous life. I loved her every second of it. Even when she was still in her mamma’s belly I was counting the days until I got to meet her.

All of our good days will forever outweigh her last and only bad day. I’ll make that deal every time.
