This past week's show on Discover Your Dog Podcast was about bringing a new dog into a home that already has an established dog. There is one thing that I consistently teach and constantly remind every owner...
LEAVE THE LEASH ON YOUR DOG!
In situations where you may need to separate the two dogs whether it be excessive play, overly aggressive older dog, or you just need a break, you will be able to separate the two much easier when the leash is left on. Also, you avoid that all important touch that should be saved for ultimate praise experiences.
I suggest: 1. Get a leash that you can cut to a short length. You don't want your dog getting caught up in things or dragging it and tripping over it. 2. A cheap one. You can cut it, if your dog chews on it...no big deal and easily replaced.
