Moving Is Hard… Training Doesn’t Have to Be
We know what it’s like to start fresh — we just did it ourselves.
New home, new routines, new challenges — sound familiar?
If your dog is adjusting to a new place (or you are!), training can make the whole household breathe easier.
Let’s do it together this September 💛

Stop Googling “Why Does My Dog Hate Me”
Spoiler alert: They don’t.
They’re just confused because dogs don’t come pre-programmed.
You need to teach them how to “dog” in a human world — that’s where we come in.
Enroll in September classes before the dog eats your Google history.

The “I’ll Just Train Him Myself” Lie We All Tell
You’ve watched 17 TikToks. You tried a YouTube tutorial.
Still, your dog thinks “stay” means “run faster.”
No judgment. Just results.
We teach you to lead like a pro — even if your pup thinks squirrels are more important than you.

If Dogs Had Thumbs, They’d Call Us Themselves
🚨 Your dog asked me to tell you:
“I wanna go to Bright Dog class. I heard they give treats AND help you understand my weird behaviors.”

Your Dog Is Not Broken
Your dog isn’t stubborn.
Your dog isn’t “too old to learn.”

My name is Melissa and I have been in the dog training world for over 10 years. My dog training passion started in college when I volunteered at an organization that helped “un-train” service dogs and police dogs to fit into a family setting. From there I studied different dog training techniques from a variety of sources and mentors. I formulated all of the knowledge together to form “Bright Dog”.
At Bright Dog, we are an in home, private or group class that teaches and trains with the Positive Reinforcement training method known as “click and treat”. You would be surprised at what you can get your dog to do for a treat! Classes can be individual or groups (I always suggest the groups unless your pup has a hard time making friends) and they meet once a week for 4-5 weeks (depending on the number of dogs and the training barriers we may run into). Below is a breakdown of the specific classes we offer:
Puppy/ Beginner Class: sit, stay, down, leave it, drop it, a come when call, and an emergency call and leash walking. We also work on the behavioral problems that are more common in puppies such as; chewing, biting, barking, dominance and the roll you play in it, jumping, and just about anything else under the sun.
Intermediate Class: front, front with distractions, heel, stay with distractions, “park it”, wait, accepting a friendly stranger and walking in public. If we have time we will also learn….spin, roll over and play dead, all in multiple training environments. (yay field trips!!)
Advanced Class: This class is all about preparing your dog to take the Canine Good Citizen Test (the first step to qualify your pup to be a therapy dog or a hospital therapy dog) Those particular training items are: Accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, allowing basic grooming procedures, walking on a loose lead, walking through a crowd, sitting/ laying down on command and staying in place, coming when called, reacting appropriately to another dog, reacting appropriately to distractions and calmly enduring supervised separation from the owner.
I also assess and provide solutions to behavioral issues that some dogs experience in the home such as: jumping, separation anxiety, mouthing/ nipping and biting, mounting/ ma********on, potty training, food guarding, begging, rough play, digging, destructive chewing, aggression, introduction into a new home, introduction of a new pet or family member… an anything else you can throw at me.
Remember- most dogs are very quick to learn because all most dogs want is to make you happy. All it takes is a few treats, a little time and effort and sooner than you’ll realize, you and your pup will be communicating effectively!
