American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Charitable Trust The ACKCS Charitable Trust was founded to provide financial support for research efforts for dogs, in particular the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

With support from the AKC Canine Health Foundation, Dr. Barbara Qurollo and her NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital team cracked the genetic code of a newly discovered tick-borne pathogen. Their breakthrough is helping create better diagnostic tools so veterinarians can identify illness faster and treat dogs sooner.

Dr. Chris George, medical affairs specialist at Elanco Animal Health, gave a presentation at AVMA Convention 2025 about the companyโ€™s Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody treatment, which has been conditionally approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for treatment of canine parvovirus.

The Charitable Trust would like to congratulate Dr. Jason Stull, VMD, MPVM, PhD, DACVPM who was awarded the Asa Mays Award for Outstanding Contributions to Canine Health Research at the 2025 AKC Canine Health Foundation Parent Club Conference. We are fortunate to have Dr. Stull collecting and analyzing data from our current Cavalier Health Survey, a joint endeavor with the CKCSC USA.

We are all be proud that our Trust was invited to participate in The Cavalier Health Discussion at the World Show in Helsinki. On Saturday, August 9, 2025, our own Tina Sterling will be representing the USA.

The Finnish Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club has fantastic event a day after the World Dog Show, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Scandic Park Hotel in Helsinki.
We have been extremely lucky to get DVM PhD Dipl. ECVIM-CA Niek Beijerink from the Netherlands to tell us about the latest research on cardiac health.
In addition, the following experts have been invited to talk about health information in their respective countries: Sylvie Desserne, Alain Tranchant & Dr Le Bobinnec, Jeanie Montford, Bettina Sterling, Wil Schrander, and Sheena Maclaine. Dr Annukka Paloheimo will be telling us about the history of the breed, and the Chair of The Royal Kennel Club, Tony Allcock, has offered to open the World Cavalier Day.
