We hear this every day:

“But we live in New Hampshire.”
“My dog stays inside.”
“Heartworm isn’t a risk here.”

Here’s the truth:

One infected mosquito bite is all it takes.
Heartworm prevention:
~$50/year for many dogs

Heartworm treatment:
$5,000+
Higher risk
Harder on your dog

If mosquitoes can get inside…
So can heartworm risk.
Ask our team about prevention.

Warning: creepy crawly content ahead 👀

Doodie the ferret came to see us for severe itchiness along with hair loss, weight loss, and enlarged lymph nodes. During diagnostics under anesthesia, we discovered a massive ear mite infestation, this video shows hundreds of mites moving throughout his ear canal, causing significant irritation and discomfort.

The good news? Doodie started treatment today with Revolution and Tresaderm to help eliminate the mites and get him feeling more comfortable.

Persistent itching in pets should never be ignored, parasites like ear mites can cause major discomfort and may require veterinary treatment to fully resolve.

Dr. Hanlon is demonstrating how heartworm injections are administered and sharing important information about the treatment process.

Heartworm disease is caused by parasites spread through mosquito bites and can lead to serious damage to the heart and lungs if left untreated. Treatment requires careful monitoring, strict exercise restriction, and close communication with your veterinary team to help pets recover safely.

Have you ever seen a fine needle aspiration?!

When we evaluate lumps on our patients, we often perform a fine needle aspiration (FNA), which is a quick and minimally invasive test.

We insert a small needle into the lump to collect a sample of cells, fluid, or blood. Then, we place that material onto a glass slide and use a second slide to gently spread it into a thin layer so the cells can be seen clearly.

Next, we allow the slide to air dry and stain it to highlight the cells. Once it’s prepared, we examine it under a microscope to help determine what the lump is, such as inflammation, infection, or a tumor.

Reptile owners, you’re not alone.

Two weekends ago, at the Manchester Reptile Expo, Renee and Lila from All Pets Veterinary Hospital represented all three of our hospitals with one mission: helping reptile owners know where to turn.

One of the biggest challenges exotic pet owners face is simple… finding veterinary care that truly understands their species.

Reptiles are not small dogs or cats. Their medicine, husbandry, nutrition, and disease processes are different, and where you go matters.

We love caring for reptiles because they deserve thoughtful, informed medicine too.
From snakes and lizards to turtles and beyond, our team is passionate about making sure exotic pet owners have trusted options close to home.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Who actually sees reptiles?” now you know.
Exotic pets deserve expert care too.

Send this to someone you know with a reptile so now they know too!

Oscar’s first vet visit at 9 weeks old 🐶

Oscar was such a brave boy! He even got a little whipped cream to help distract him from the quick “ouchie.” Positive experiences like this help puppies feel more comfortable at the vet as they grow!

Does your pet have a lump?

Most lumps aren't emergencies, but some are.

The challenge is that you cannot tell which is which just by looking or feeling.

We see this often:
A small lump appears. It doesn’t seem to bother the pet. It stays the same for a while… until it doesn’t.

When we evaluate a lump early, we have more options.
Sometimes that means a simple test or a small removal while it’s still manageable.

When it’s delayed, that same mass may:
• grow rapidly
• invade surrounding tissue
• require more invasive surgery
• or limit treatment options altogether

This is not about assuming the worst.
It’s about not missing the window where intervention is simpler, less invasive, and less stressful for your pet.

Costs, outcomes, and treatment plans can vary widely.
What does not change is this: timing matters.

This is why we recommend checking new or changing lumps early—
not because every lump is serious,
but because the ones that are, benefit most from early action.

If you find a lump, it’s worth having it looked at.
