Chiropractic and acupuncture are very beneficial for all animals! Macy was showing seizure-like episodes where she would become immobilized with pain in her neck. I’m so happy to report this sweet girl came in today with bright peaceful eyes, happy to give kisses, much more comfortable than she was in this initial picture! Prednisone alone was not enough to help her through this.

I will be seeing horses at C5 and in the Decorah area this Thursday June 26. I have room for two more appointments for dogs or horses. Please message me.

Just look at these three! I have had the privilege of being part of the veterinary care team for these bred heifers. They have had excellent care by the young people who are showing them! Top notch nutrition, husbandry and enrichment for these animals throughout the past year. The students who care for them, have been forward thinking to include regular chiropractic and acupuncture care for them. The proof is in the pictures! Good luck in the show ring! I know your hard work and great care will pay off!

My name is Dr. Elizabeth Bixby. I graduated from ISU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. While there I completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society course and three years ago completed the Options for Animals Chiropractic school in Wellsville, KS and passed the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association exam.
Since that time I have been amazed at what the addition of acupuncture, chiropractic and Magnawave PEMF can bring to traditional western veterinary medicine. When we compliment and free the nervous system to communicate with the brain, the connection yields improved balance, muscle strength, stronger immunity, and faster return to competition after stress or injury!

Chiropractic care and acupuncture can be incredibly beneficial for cows and calves during calving season.

Calving season brings hope and excitement for the season ahead. It can also bring heartache when a calf fails to thrive or a cow sustains injury associated with giving birth.

CALVES

🐮A difficult birth involving a tough pull can result in a calf being unable to stand and therefore unable to nurse and receive colostrum.

🐮Delivery requiring a traumatic pull can cause the spine, pelvis and hips to have subluxations. These misalignments can cause neurological deficits that affect the calf’s balance and muscle strength and coordination. Chiropractic adjustment can realign the spine and allow the nervous system to connect properly to the body.

🐮Restoring nerve function helps heal muscle damage by improving circulation. This helps the calf recover and feel better faster. It is critical to have the newborn up and nursing as soon as possible.

COWS-Mom’s are at risk too!

🐮Calving injuries that occur for the cow are most often due to nerve damage to the hind limbs. A calve stuck in the birth canal can can damage the sciatic nerve causing the cow to knuckle over at the fetlock on one or both sides. The other common nerve to be damaged is the obturator nerve. This is more severe and is presented as the cow that laterally hyperextends the hind limbs - she splays out. She can damage the adductor muscles and even dislocate the hips in the struggle.

🐮Combining chiropractic care and acupuncture can help these animals restore to function. Proper alignment along with stimulation of the nerves -often with electroacupuncture - can decrease inflammation, improve circulation and release endorphins for pain management.
(Electo-acupuncture involves placing very small needles at precise points. Electrodes are attached to the needles. Very low levels of electricity are sent to the needles to stimulate the point and the muscle group associated with the point. Usually the electroacupuncture unit is powered by small 5volt battery.)
