Feeding time at the Heart Bar. A daily occurrence, this time we brought along our American Bulldog "Belle" (short for Tinker Bell). All of the animals got along wonderfully. These heifers and steers are easy to work with and very docile.

These are some of the cows that are the backbone of our operation. They are excellent mothers, who produce exceptional calves with low birth weights and high wean weights. We have terrific output from these ladies as approximately 94 percent of them will make 10 years, calving every year.

Why Limousin x Angus?

The Limousin breed is renowned for its extraordinary weight gain, feed efficiency, and yield with a high dressing percentage. The Limousin is also famous for their calving ease and rapid calf growth. The unique muscle allele trait (F94L) is what genetically provides the breed its heavy muscle mass with no remarkable negative impacts on calving and maternal traits. Further, the F94L muscle allele still produces tender meat. With higher dressing percentages and meat yield combined with good maternal traits, the Limousin is both efficient and profitable to all members of the process chain.

Angus cattle have a reputation for longevity as well as high fertility rates. The Angus breed is also popular due to exceptional maternal traits and ease of calving. However, the Angus is most well-known for its amazing marbled meat, providing superior flavor and texture to the consumer who prefers the melt-in-your-mouth characteristic of beef.

At the Heart Bar Ranch, we combine the advantages of the finer beef Angus with the high yield of the Limousin. The result is a calf that is more marketable, maintains a low birth weight with a high wean weight, and demonstrates noteworthy profitability. Welcome to our Family

Committed to excellence for four generations, the Heart Bar Ranch began in 1942. We are a family-operated business, specializing in Limousin-Angus cross. Our Mission is to produce exceptional quality replacement heifers that demonstrate excellent growth, tranquil attitude, low birth weights, high weaning weights, and exemplary carcass qualities. Our feeder stock consistently generates top-dollar at market. We have a licensed Veterinarian in the family and on the residence to monitor health and progress at all times. All calves are fully vaccinated, de-wormed and weaned at 210 days of age. Our stocking heifers are sold open, and average 550 pounds at weaning.
