Missing this special boy today. Mr. Bear. You were unlike any dog I've ever known. 🐾

One year ago this weekend, we lost our very special boy, Bear. We miss you more than ever.

Bear passed last night around 2am. We awoke to him panting heavily at the foot of the bed, which is usually a sign that he needs to urgently go out. I picked him up and carried him outside, but by the time we all arrived (seconds later), he had died. In my arms. In his happy place. Upstate.

He rode up last night almost entirely in my lap with his head out the window, enjoying the smells of nature. He jumped out of the car and even trotted inside. He drank up some water and hopped into bed. We snuggled. No signs that the end was near.

We are blessed that we were all together. We were blessed that he waited for me to come home from my travels this week. We are blessed by the life and love of this extraordinary being. Bear made us each better people and we will love him forever and ever -- as I'm sure many of you will too. RIP.

Sickening.

Sickening.

The Trump Administration’s withdrawal from the Paris climate accord is, perhaps, the most astounding example of influence-buying in modern American political history.

Thank you to everyone who sent thoughts about Bear. It has been a surreal day. Started with a trip to the vet in Shohola. That was very hard. Leaving his physical body behind. I can't describe the grief. Then, wondering around the house seeing Bear everywhere. But, your sweet words comforted us more than I ever imagined. It was like a huge virtual hug. And then, on top of it all, The Dogist posted his picture and our videos to a community that was overwhelmed by our boy. He touched so many in life and now, through social media, death. We are so grateful to you all. xoxo

The Dogist just posted photos of Bear. Almost 20,000 likes in minutes and hundreds and hundreds of beautiful wishes.
