Collier DAS Dogs -by volunteers

Collier DAS Dogs -by volunteers This is a volunteer run page showcasing adoptable shelter dogs at Collier County DAS. This is NOT the shelter. Thank you for your help!!!!

Please be aware that this page IS NOT RUN BY THE CCDAS SHELTER but a group of volunteers that work in cooperation with the shelter in order to gain visibility for the animals who would otherwise have very little. Collier DAS Dogs page and any parties involved in the posting of dogs on this page make no claims as to the temperament of adoptable or foster animals. Collier DAS Dogs Facebook

page and all parties involved cannot be held responsible for any animals behavior. The shelter staff does let us know of behaviors that they see inside the shelter environment. Even if these animals appear good with other dogs or cats there is no guarantee that there behavior will remain consistent in other situations or surroundings. We are always looking for:
- Rescues who can take dogs (especially med-large mixed breed)
- Fosters who can give some space and love to an abandoned animal temporarily on behalf of a rescue.
- Advocates who will share these photos, and email rescues who might be interested in saving these animals
- Adopters who are looking to give a permanent home to a formerly displaced pet.

It’s the foster fail we were hoping for and CHOO CHOO is so grateful! 🎉♥️ This handsome brindled boy had been adopted and returned, then fostered (to adopt) and returned because CHOO CHOO struggled with introductions to new people (esp in the home). This good boy simply needed people who had the time, patience and understanding to work with and help him. Enter volunteer Raquel and her family who took CHOO CHOO into foster care and gave him the support he needed. This weekend they officially made CHOO CHOO their newest family pet.

Meet our petite red heeler CHILlI. ♥️ This adorable little girl was adopted quickly last year but recently came back for basically being too much for her owner to handle. This cutie deserves an owner who understands he breed. If you aren’t familiar with the Australian Cattle Dog, please remember:

KNOW THE BREED: The compact but muscular Australian Cattle Dog, also called Blue or Red Heeler or Queensland Heeler, is related to Australia’s famous wild dog, the Dingo. These resilient herders are intelligent enough to routinely outsmart their owners. Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns either blue-gray or red. Both coat colors may feature distinctive mottling or speckling patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at controlling and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners. ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, tenacious, ever alert, and may be wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, it easily becomes bored and may get into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with these versatile dogs in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep them mentally and physically fit. -American Kennel Club

Found female dog on Bedzel Circle. Approximately eight months old and 7 pounds, this dog is on a stray hold until June 2, 2026.

Please direct ALL inquiries to shelter staff. Note: By law, all stray dogs, at least 4 months old, are placed on 5-day stray holds to allow time for the owners to come forward. If a stray dog has a registered microchip, shelter staff attempts to contact the owner based upon the registration information. If the dog does not have a microchip, shelter staff will implant a microchip. This means all kennel cards will reflect a microchip number. If an owner comes forward, that does not necessarily mean the dog will be reunited with the owner. Staff handles all reunification decisions. The shelter allows one “first approved” adopter for each dog on stray hold (which requires a completed adoption survey to be filed and processed). Adoption survey and information can be found on the shelter’s website provided below.
