the practice and were well-known for their availability to care for their animal patients in any emergency. In 1985, their son, Dr. David Randall, graduated from the University of Florida and worked alongside his father at Big Cypress Animal Clinic. Two years later, the senior Dr. Randall retired and his son took over the family practice. Dr. David Randall spent the first 15 years of his career caring for animals of all breeds and sizes, including but not limited to dogs, cats and horses. Then 10 years ago, he dedicated his practice to small animal breeds only. Dr. Carrie Portu, our associate veterinarian, graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She began her career at the Calder Casino and Race Course in Miami Gardens, FL working with the equestrian team. In 2002 Dr. Portu worked at the USDA Quarantine Center for 5 years before moving to Southwest FL to begin working with small animals.
