This past week Terra has started learning about ground work- sending out on the circle, stopping, yielding HQ/ shoulders and walking and trotting on the circle. She’s such a smart girl 🦄

We also took advantage of the beautiful fall colors and got some pretty pictures of her- she added some silly faces on her own 🤪

Had a great time teaching at the Maine Mountain Trail Course today. Perfect fall weather! Every horse and rider pair got over and through almost every obstacle, and some tried things that they weren’t sure they could do, but succeeded! Great job ladies! As always thank you Cindy for creating such an amazing space.

Here’s a snippet of Terra’s ground work session in the arena today. We have come in and walked around the space before, but we have primarily been doing things in her paddock. Here she’s learning how to send out on the circle and move around me. She was confused but stayed connected and tried hard- and she stayed fairly relaxed despite the windy day and the new things I was asking her. I’ve been trying to prepare Terra for blanketing, as she will likely need one when snow flies. I’m all for letting horses be if they don’t need one, however I want to prepare her incase she does. She’s a southern girlie and winters in Maine are cold and damp 🥶 I’ve started small by tossing a saddle pad on and off of her and she’s been doing great. She’s slowly starting to get more curious and less worried. I also think teal is definitely her color!
