Do you remember this little chick Maddie the Baddie rescued from the barn loft on September 18th?

Today… 39 days later, Maddie held it again so we could compare.

Look how much it’s grown!

Chicks start out covered in down, then grow their juvenile feathers over the first several weeks. At about five and a half weeks, much of that feathering has come in, but this chick will keep growing and its feathers will change as it matures.

It’s hard to believe these are the same four babies we were holding just two weeks ago!

Angel and Edward’s Holland Lop kits were born completely hairless, with their eyes and ears closed. Now they’re covered in soft fur, their eyes are beginning to open, and all four are climbing out of their nest box and starting to explore everything around them.

They’re still tiny and spend plenty of time sleeping in a pile together, but every day they look and act a little more like baby rabbits.

We took them outside for a quick photo shoot today, and getting four baby rabbits to sit still and face the same direction went about as well as you’d expect. 😂

It’s still a little early to confidently tell how many are boys and how many are girls. Male rabbits are called bucks, and females are called does. We should have a better idea in another couple of weeks.

What do you think? How many bucks and how many does do you think are in this litter?

Look at the difference 10 days makes!

When they were born on October 12, they were completely hairless with their eyes and ears closed.

Now they’re covered in soft white fur and starting to look like tiny bunnies!

Around 10 days old is when their eyes usually begin opening, so we should start seeing that happen very soon. All four kits are healthy, growing quickly, and doing great with mama Angel. 💕

Four days old today! 🐰❤️

Angel’s four Holland Lop kits were born completely hairless, with their eyes and ears closed. Just four days later, their tiny coats are already beginning to appear!

Angel built them a warm nest using grass and fur pulled from her own body. We perform quick daily checks to make sure each kit is warm, plump, healthy, and being fed, then tuck them right back underneath their mama’s fur.

By about one week old, they’ll be covered in soft fuzz. Their eyes should begin opening around day ten, and at two to three weeks old, they’ll start exploring outside the nest. They’ll remain with Angel until they’re at least eight weeks old and ready for their new homes.

As their individual colors, markings, and personalities begin to appear, we’ll take pictures and email everyone on our waiting list before we begin accepting deposits.

Our waiting list is already growing, but availability can change. If you’re interested in one of our pedigreed Holland Lop rabbits, you can join the waiting list at:

Angel’s four little kits are already two days old! 🐰❤️

They may look a little strange right now because baby holland lop rabbits are born completely hairless, with their eyes and ears closed. But they grow incredibly fast, and we can already see the very beginning of their fur coming in!

Shortly after Angel delivered, Abby and Madison helped me perform a quick initial well-check and inspection. We count each kit, make sure they’re warm, plump, healthy, and uninjured, and check the nest for anything that needs to be removed or cleaned up. We keep the inspection brief and warm, then place them right back into their nest with their mama.

Before giving birth, Angel built a nest from grass and hay and pulled out her own fur to create a warm, insulated place for her babies. The kits stay tucked underneath all that fur because they cannot regulate their own body temperature yet.

Over the next several days, their fur will become much more noticeable. By about one week old, they’ll look fuzzy, and around day 10, their eyes should begin opening. At two to three weeks, they’ll start exploring outside the nest. They’ll continue growing and learning with Angel until they’re at least eight weeks old and ready for their new homes.

As they grow and their individual colors, markings, and personalities begin to show, we’ll start taking individual pictures. Everyone on our waiting list will be emailed first when we’re ready to begin accepting deposits.

We already have a strong waiting list, but plans sometimes change, so there may still be opportunities to bring home one of these babies. If you’re interested in one of our pedigreed Holland Lop rabbits and haven’t submitted a request yet, now is the time to join the waiting list at:

🥚 Fresh eggs from our family farm to your table!

We’re a Treasure Valley homeschool family, and Reynolds Family Farms is something we’re building together. The kids help care for our chickens and gather the eggs, making farm life & chores a part of our everyday learning.

We have 14 dozen farm-fresh eggs available this week for $6 per dozen. Local delivery is available, and delivery is free with an order of 3 dozen or more.

We’ve added a link in the comments with more information and ordering details!

We had an awesome, busy, and productive weekend!

Grandpa came over to help me work on the barn door, and we got fresh straw in the stables for the pigs, goats, and chickens.

We also gave the rabbitry a deep clean and got the barn a little more ready for winter. It’s getting cold at night already! 🥶

But the piglets are still the main attraction around here. They’re growing so fast and doing great with mama Soy Sauce. We have six girls and three boys, and we’ll be taking individual pictures soon!

We already have quite a waiting list, and we’ll be ready to accept deposits soon.

Everyone on our piglet waiting list will get an email first. Deposits will be first come, first served, so if you’re interested in one of our Kunekune piglets, make sure you join the waitlist at www.ReynoldsFamilyFarms.com.

And now two of our Holland Lop does have their nest boxes ready…. so we’re watching for those litters any day! Maybe tomorrow?! 🐰

We just got home from delivering four dozen eggs to Caldwell!! 🥚🐓

There’s a lot happening back at the farm today too… our Ameraucana chicks are hatching in the incubator, and two of our Holland Lop does are getting their nest boxes ready. We could have baby bunnies arriving any time!

Egg deliveries, hatching chicks, and baby bunnies on the way… it’s shaping up to be a pretty great Friday and weekend around here. ❤️

Reynolds Family Farms is a homeschool family farm in Nampa, Idaho raising pedigreed Holland Lop rabbits, Nigerian Dwarf goats, Kunekune pigs, chickens, and family-raised farm animals for the Treasure Valley.
