If you’ve lived around here for any length of time, chances are you’ve heard of Russell Cavender, better known as “The Snake Chaser.” For decades, Russell has dedicated countless hours to rescuing sick, injured, and misplaced animals. My guess is he’s helped save thousands of lives over the years.

Now it’s our turn to help him.

Russell’s beloved dog, Mabel, was frightened by the fireworks Saturday night and ran away. Despite searching tirelessly, he still hasn’t been able to find her.

Russell lives in the Longs/Little River area near the intersection of Highways 90 and 57. If you see Mabel or have any information about where she might be, please call Russell at 843-902-5706.
