To our Apothic Pet cat family,
I recently had the opportunity to try this litter, Smart Box (SB) and Business Litter (BL), due to its clearance pricing at Walmart.

Notably, it is biodegradable, corn based, unscented, and flushable. The SB variety has PH testing color changing for cat health. * I have not reached the safety of said PH testing*

Typically, it is priced at $10(BL) or $13(SB) per box, with a stated duration of 1 month for 1 cat, 15 days for 2 cats, and 10 days for 3 cats.

After utilizing it with six cats for one week, I found it to be effective, provided that the cats sufficiently cover their waste. * I have 1 who refuses to bury the 💩* This litter is a viable option for affordable and effective environmentally safe alternative to traditional cat litter.

However, my personal preference remains with the horse pine pelleted bedding, which is not only less expensive at $7 per 40lb bag but also lasts nearly two months with 3 XL litter boxes and 1 large tote that are completely dumped each week.

* If there is interest in how to use the pine pellets the way I do I will gladly do a video. Some people keep the pine pellets whole. I like to pre-soak mine so that they're easy to sift*

🚨 WARNING FOR PET PARENTS! 🚨

‼️ Deadly Pythiosis Infection Reported in Sarasota & Manatee Counties ‼️

A rare and often fatal infection called Pythiosis has been detected in at least five dogs in our area within the last month—four of those cases were fatal. 💔

🐶 What is Pythiosis?

Pythiosis is caused by the aquatic mold Pythium Insidiosum and can severely affect a dog's skin or gastrointestinal tract; frequently misdiagnosed as a fungal infection. It thrives in contaminated or stagnant water, including floodwaters, swamps, puddles, and retention ponds.

⚠️ Symptoms to Watch For:
🔹 Sores on the skin
🔹 Weight loss
🔹 Vomiting
🔹 Diarrhea
🔹 Loss of appetite

💡 How to Protect Your Pet:

🚫 Avoid letting dogs wade, swim, or drink from stagnant or contaminated water. Can affect horses and humans, too.
🛑 Be extra cautious after storms or floods
⏳ Seek immediate veterinary care if symptoms appear—early detection is critical

A local veterinarian warns that Pythiosis is incredibly difficult to treat and often fatal if not caught early.
