In honor of , we would like to introduce Louie! πΊ He is a 7-year-old, neutered male cat, who is owned by our hospital manager, Melissa. He came in for routine labwork testing a few months ago and was diagnosed with Diabetes.
Louie did not show the typical signs of Diabetes, such as increased hunger or excessive drinking. The main symptom he had was producing large, sticky urine clumps in the litter box. Otherwise, there were no obvious signs that this guy had a disease that could be life-threatening if left untreated! π₯
He is doing well with a new feline diabetes medication, called Senvelgo, along with a low carb diet - but this is a reminder of why it is so important to perform wellness labwork on our pets even if they are younger and not showing any overt signs of illness. π¬ππ©Ί
