Muscatine Humane Society Our goal is to find all of our animals loving, forever homes. We hold several fundraisers throughout the year.

The Muscatine Humane Society operates as an animal shelter and a city pound for stray animals as well as owner surrendered animals in our community and surrounding areas. Our mission is to educate the public about the importance of and dire necessity to spay and neuter their pets, to prevent the needless suffering that follows overpopulation. Concurrently, the Society provides a safe haven for los

t or abandoned animals until their owners or a new home can be obtained. The humane society is a privately owned non-profit organization which is funded by personal donations. Without fundraising the humane society would not be able to launch any new programs or fund new projects.

Update on Ophelia (now Maple) ❤️

She’s doing awesome. Total personality switch after settling in. She went from pretty chill to a little tornado with toys, boxes, and apparently a strong opinion about squeaky toys at night 🤣

The best part is how gentle she is with baby Ramona. She lights up around her and is always right there anytime she’s on the floor. It’s honestly so sweet.

We love seeing her so happy in her home 🐾

We are so grateful to Muscatine High School’s Senior Survivor program for choosing Muscatine Humane Society as their charity this year.

Seniors Haley Brokaw and Shelby Geurink put in incredible effort and raised an amazing $3,236.55 for our animals. We knew they were fundraising, but we had no idea it would be this much!

Their kindness and hard work will directly support the care of animals in our shelter, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

🌟 June Cat Adoptions Sponsored by Li'l Miss Iowa! 🌟

The Muscatine Humane Society is excited to announce that all cat and kitten adoption fees for the month of June have been sponsored by a very special young lady!

Lenix Holmes is the current Li'l Miss Iowa and is from Muscatine. Her love of animals has inspired her to donate a portion of her scholarship money to help support the Muscatine Humane Society by sponsoring all cat adoptions for the month of June.

Lenix has also fallen in love with Stacey and wants to help her find a home. The adopter of Stacey will receive a special adoption kit that includes food, litter, treats, and toys to help her settle into her forever home.

We are incredibly grateful for Lenix's generosity and compassion. ❤️

I’m looking for a barn home that could take 3 cats that lived in a colony together. When Muscatine legalized TNR, a kind citizen took several outdoor, feral cats and had them all spayed or neutered, vaccinated and their ears tipped so people would know they were not reproducing. She has continued to feed and care for them. The problem is that they are living in a local trailer park and the park owners do not want them there. They have been trapping all the cats and relocating them or worse. The kind citizen brought 3 of them to us hoping we could find them somewhere to live out their years and be together. The two black ones are mother and daughter and not friendly. The black and white is a neutered male and very sweet. They would need a barn where they could be confined together for quite some time to adapt to their new home. Please contact us at 563 263-7358 if you gave such a place for them.
