🚜 A HUGE THANK YOU to BDR Powersports & Steve Mansfield! 🐴💚

Running a horse rescue means there is always work to be done—and when you're caring for acreage, fencing, pastures, and horses without heavy equipment, even the simplest jobs become a major undertaking.

As a disabled veteran-operated nonprofit, much of the work at Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary has still been done by hand and on foot. Hauling supplies, checking fence lines, maintaining pastures, moving feed, and carrying tools across the property takes an enormous amount of time and physical effort. Having the right equipment isn't simply about convenience—it makes our work safer, more accessible, and more sustainable.
That just changed. 🥹

We are incredibly grateful to BDR Powersports and Steve Mansfield for the generous donation of this ATV to Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary. And this donation means even more knowing that Steve is a fellow veteran supporting a veteran-led organization and the mission we're building for both animals and veterans in our community. 🇺🇸

This isn't just a four-wheeler. It's a tool that will have an immediate impact on our rescue. It means we can:
🐴 Get feed, supplies, and equipment where they're needed faster
🌱 Maintain pastures and fence lines more efficiently
🛠️ Haul tools and materials for repairs around the property
🚨 Reach horses and remote areas of the farm quickly when something is wrong
♿ Reduce the physical strain on our disabled veteran team members
❤️ Spend more of our time and energy where it belongs—on the animals and people we serve

As a growing nonprofit, donations like this are genuinely transformative. Every piece of equipment we don't have to purchase means more resources can go directly toward feed, veterinary care, farrier work, rehabilitation, training, and the development of our veteran wellness programming.

“I’m a survivor…” 🧡🐴

And Carrot’s story is exactly that.

She came to us starved, scared, beaten, and reactive. Today, she’s trusting people again, enjoying connection, and getting comfortable back in the saddle. 🥹

Carrot is officially HOME, and we can’t thank Knipp it in the Bud Horsemanship enough for the incredible transformation and foundation they’ve given this girl.

Her official adoption post is coming soon 👀 but our adoption application is officially LIVE!

Carrot will be searching for an experienced forever home ready to continue her journey.

She survived. Now it’s time for her to thrive. 🧡

💙 $5 Friday Fundraiser 💙

This week's $5 Friday goal is to raise $200 to purchase animal-safe pasture spray and a backpack sprayer!

Keeping our fence lines clear and maintaining healthy pastures is essential for the safety of our animals. Right now, every bit of this work is done by hand and on foot because we don't yet have the equipment to make these jobs easier. A backpack sprayer will allow us to cover more ground safely and efficiently while improving our smaller paddocks for the horses and other sanctuary animals.

🎉 A Huge Thank You to Tractor Supply Co. ❤️🐴

We are incredibly grateful to Tractor Supply Co. – Munfordville for sponsoring Carrot's Welcome Home Bucket! Thanks to their generosity, Carrot will head to her forever family with a bucket full of supplies to help her settle into her new home.

After months of rehabilitation, training, and learning to trust again, we're excited to share that Carrot will officially be available for adoption later this month! This is a milestone we've been working toward, and we couldn't be more proud of how far she's come.

🚨 Community Request 🚨

Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary is looking for an inexpensive travel camper to help provide temporary housing for a homeless veteran who has been a dedicated volunteer, longtime supporter, and valued ally of our program.

By living on-site, they will be able to continue serving as a resource for our rescue while dedicating even more time to volunteering and helping care for the animals and our mission.

We're hoping to find something that:
🏕️ Is a bumper-pull camper
✅ Has working HVAC and plumbing
✅ Is structurally sound
🚫 Preferably has no slide-outs
✨ Cosmetic wear, age, or an outdated interior is absolutely okay!

While this request is to support one of our own, our long-term vision is for this camper to become an emergency resource for Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary. It would provide temporary housing for staff or volunteers facing a crisis and help us better respond to situations involving veteran homelessness and other emergency needs within our community.

Last night's tornado brought some tense moments, but we're incredibly grateful to share that Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary appears to have sustained only minimal damage. ❤️

Most importantly, all of our animals are safe and doing well.

Our pastures are currently flooded, so we'll be closely monitoring everyone and treating our horses preventatively to help avoid hoof issues like thrush as the ground dries out.

✨ A wonderful update on Carrot! 🧡🐴

When Carrot first arrived at Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary, she struggled with being handled—especially by people she didn't know. One of the biggest challenges was caring for her feet. We tried many different approaches, but the fear and anxiety from what we believe was past mistreatment made every session difficult. Building trust would take time, patience, and consistency.

We're so excited to share this update from Knipp it in the Bud Horsemanship . In this video, you'll see a completely different mare: calm, relaxed, and confidently allowing a complete stranger to handle her feet without panic. Moments like this remind us why rehabilitation is so important.

Carrot has worked incredibly hard, and we couldn't be prouder of the progress she's made. She will be available for adoption very soon, and we can't wait to introduce her to the family that will continue her journey.

At Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary, we're committed to giving every horse the time they need to heal—physically and emotionally—so they can begin their new course in life healthy, confident, and happy. ❤️

☀️ Help Us Beat the Heat! 🐷🐶

With the summer heat in full swing, we're looking for plastic sandboxes (like the classic turtle sandboxes) and kiddie pools to help keep the dogs and pigs in our care cool and comfortable.

💙 We gladly accept new or gently used donations. These simple items make a huge difference by giving our animals a safe place to cool off during the hottest days of the year.

If you have one you no longer use, we'd love to give it a second life at the rescue!

This Father's Day, we're honoring the legacy of Bobby Hanks Jr. — a United States Marine Corps veteran, animal lover, and compassionate soul whose love for animals and dedication to service continue to inspire the mission of Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary.

Throughout his life, Bobby believed in helping those who could not help themselves. From rescuing animals in need to finding peace and purpose through their companionship, his legacy lives on in every life we touch.

In honor of his memory, we are launching a Father's Day Fundraiser to support two important causes:

🐴 The animals currently in our care, providing rescue, rehabilitation, sanctuary, and lifelong support when needed.

🪖 The development of our Back on Course Veteran Wellness Program, a future initiative designed to help veterans find connection, purpose, and healing through equine-assisted experiences, community, and peer support.
