White Oak - Select
The White Oak’s leaves have rounded lobes. Its name comes from the color of its wood rather than the color of its bark which is a lighter ashy gray with patterning which can vary from strong ridging to plating or both all on the same tree. A distinguishing feature of this tree is that a little over halfway up the trunk, the bark tends to form overlapping scales that are easily noticed. After several years, this tree produces an acorn about 1” long and takes a full year to mature. Its leaves can range from silvery pink in early spring to yellow-green later in the season and will turn red or even purple in the fall. Deciduous. These trees live for hundreds of years. Slow growth rate. Transplants well.
Mature height 80 - 100’
Mature width 50 - 90’
