For those of you who saw our post about Cassie, the sweet momma with FIV, here’s a little extra info about FIV and caring for FIV positive cat! 💚

🐾 Can FIV+ cats live with other pets?
Yes! It’s only transferable through deep bite wounds, so as long as your kitties get along well, there’s no need to worry. And it only affects cats, not humans or other animals in the home!

💪 What is FIV?
FIV is an autoimmune disorder in cats. But with good nutrition, indoor care, and a little extra love, FIV+ cats can live just as long as regular cats.

🥣 How to keep them healthy:
FIV+ cats are more prone to getting sick, so keeping them on a healthy diet (frozen food is our favorite!) and watching for signs of illness is the best preventative care. We also have several supplements that can help the body naturally recover from any respiratory, dental, or general illnesses that could develop.

💖 Why it matters:
FIV+ cats like Cassie often get overlooked. But they’re some of the sweetest, most loving souls you’ll ever meet. All they need is a safe home, good food, and someone who loves them.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and spread the word about Lieutenant Dan. Thanks to your generosity, we now have the funds for his surgery! Dan is on his way to a happier life because of you! 🥰
We are so lucky to be part of such an incredible community that truly wants to help those in need. So thank you, not just from us, but from Lieutenant Dan too!
We will keep everyone updated on his surgery and recovery. After that, Dan will be ready to find his new home! We can't wait!

🐾 Sweet Salem is still waiting for her forever home!

Every time Salem’s crate opens, she runs straight to the nearest person purring, rubbing, and begging for love.
But after almost two months, no one has run to her. 💔

Black cats are so often overlooked, and Salem can’t help but make it harder on herself. She just won’t sit still long enough for a photo! She’s too busy falling into your arms.

Salem is gentle, playful, and full of personality. She loves splashing in her water bowl, getting all the snacks, and meowing sweetly for attention. She's the kind of cat who makes you feel chosen.

She’s one year old, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and friendly with cats and dogs.

✨ All Salem wants is someone who’ll finally run to her the way she runs to everyone else. ✨

For those who don't know, Dan has a bad leg that will require surgery, with the estimate being $900. He is finally big enough for surgery, but we just have a bit more money to raise before we can officially get it scheduled.

Will follow up with massive amounts of love and affection once rejuvenated. May act shy at first, but don’t let that fool you, Cassie’s love language is 1000% physical touch. 💕

Cassie is a sweet 2–3 year old who has already raised her kittens and is ready for a forever home of her own. She’s spayed, up to date on shots, and currently thriving in her foster home!

Cassie is FIV positive, which simply means she has an autoimmune condition. It doesn’t spread through casual contact (like sharing food or water bowls). With a little extra love and care, FIV+ cats can live long, happy lives, just like any other kitty! 🐾 We’ll share more about FIV soon, so keep an eye out!

Update: WILKINS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!🥳

Meet Wilkins, one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet! This boy was returned to us recently with a few behavioral issues and because his family did not have time for him. We always want to be transparent about the animals in our care, and we want you to read carefully. The behavior issues causing his return were health/care related, and our goal is to help avoid and fix these issues for Wilkins and others!

We were told he was urinating outside of the litterbox. Upon intake, we noted the start of a UTI and the presence of tapeworms. We have treated both of these issues, and Wilkins hasn’t had any issues with his litter box since arriving! We believe proper diet and worming would have avoided these issues for poor Wilkins, and this guy deserves another chance and some love! We appreciate him being returned to us responsibly. We want to find his forever home!

One of the most common reasons cats are returned or given away are litter box issues. Peeing or pooping outside the box usually! This is often simple to resolve with proper nutrition, good quality cat litter, and a deworming schedule. All of which we are able to help manage here at Roo’s.

At Roo’s, our goal is always forever homes, and we’re committed to helping families work through common issues like UTIs, crystals, or other health concerns so cats aren’t given up for these issues. Some of our favorite products are HomeoPet UTI+, HomeoPet Worm Clear, Purge dewormer, and Adored Beast Easy Peesy (Urinary Health).

Our goal at Roo’s is to help pets become happier, healthier members of your family. Wilkins was returned for these issues. MOST cats are given away for these same issues. We want to be the ones to help you solve these issues so you and your pets can live happily ever after.

What we have noticed is that Wilkins loves nothing more than snuggles, gentle pets, and being close to his people. Wilkins deserves a forever family who will appreciate his loving nature and give him the safe, stable home he’s been waiting for. 💕
