Make It a Weekend in Historic Downtown Vandalia!

There’s something for everyone in downtown Vandalia — from rich history to great food and local spirits, it’s the perfect time to explore and enjoy!

🏛️ The Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site is hosting The Grand Levée, a celebration of our heritage that brings history to life.

🚋 The Vandalia Historical Society will offer free trolley historic home tours during the Grand Levée on Friday, June 14, and will also have the Little Brick House open for tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

🛣️ Visit the National Road Interpretive Center for “Treasures in the Trunk” in the parking lot and take a tour inside to learn about the first federally funded interstate road. The Center has recently updated displays and dioramas showcasing what Illinois looked like in the 1800s — you don’t want to miss it!

🍽️ Grab a delicious lunch at Blind Society, known for its beautifully restored space with exposed brick and a stylish bar.

🥃 Then walk next door to Witness Distillery for behind-the-scenes tours and a stop in the Whiskey Underground to taste their locally crafted spirits.

Come for the history, stay for the experience — we’ll see you in downtown Vandalia!
