Everyone meet Ellie Mae. 💚💚💚💚

This gentle Newfie spent her whole Sunday with us at the salon and WOW did we underestimate that coat. 😅

Turns out Ellie Mae’s undercoat had its own undercoat. Nearly 5 hours later, we had removed enough hair to build at least two additional Newfoundlands.

Despite the monumental deshed, Ellie Mae was an absolute angel the entire time. Sweet, patient, and very ready for a nap by the end of it all.😴

Me? I’m still exhausted and currently about as useful as a chocolate frying pan. 🫠🐾

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH 💚💚 Please check on your people!

As a veteran couple, we have seen more than our share of friends and shipmates struggle with mental health. As a retired Navy trauma nurse, I have also seen the devastating loss that can come from untreated and unchecked mental illness, especially within the military community.

Once again, it has hit close to home.
This kind of loss never gets easier. Nothing feels real, and nothing fills the void left behind by unanswered “why” questions.

So please, do NOT stop asking.
Do NOT accept “I’m okay” as the end of the conversation.
Sometimes “okay” is simply what people say while they are drowning silently.

Ask again. Check again. Stay present. Remind the people you love that they matter, that they are loved, and that they are worth fighting for.

Do not be afraid to ask hard questions. And if you truly feel something is wrong, do NOT leave them alone.

Please check on your people.

And if you are struggling, please tell someone. You matter. 💚

Summer prep on a Giant Schnauzer is no small feat… let alone two. 🥴✂️
Hours later, arms quivering 💪, shears begging for a sharpen ✂️😅, and these two just stood there looking flawless ✨ like they had nothing to do with it. 😌
A whole lot of work… so they can walk out like it was effortless. 🖤🐾
Meanwhile, I’m still recovering. 😵‍💫💚
