is a 501 (c)3 organization created in 1999 with the goal of building an animal shelter for dogs and cats in Stone County, AR. We completed that goal in August 2016 with the opening of our new 3,000 sf shelter building. Our organization is managed by an 11 member board and we have 4 part-time paid employees and one full-time shelter manager who help feed and care for the animals. We are located at

17379 Hwy 9, Mountain View, AR 72560. We have limited space but we do not euthanize to make room for another animal. We try to place all our animals in the right loving home as soon as possible after spaying and neutering and complete vetting. The doors keep revolving as one leaves another comes so we are usually in full capacity at all times. We can care for about 25 to 30 dogs at any one time and about 20 to 25 cats. An appointment must be made to surrender an animal please call the shelter 870-269-5200 and leave a message and someone will return your call. The shelter is open daily for adoptions from 2 to 5 PM and mornings by appointment only. Our dog adoption fee is $100, our fee for a Paws in Prison trained dog is $200, and cat adoption fee is $75. You can complete an online application found on our website at schspets.org and someone will contact you once received. You can see all our dogs and cats ready for adoption at petfinder.com and adoptapet.com. You can make online donations on the website as well or go to PayPal.com enter our email address of [email protected] and send a general donation to help meet our monthly bills as well as donate right here on FB. We also take cash or checks at the shelter or you can mail your check to SCHS, 17379 Highway 9, Mountain View, AR 72560. We provide low cost spay/neuter for the community pets so call the shelter to find out about our various programs and cost.

Tito, the boy who was almost someone’s dog. But the plans fell apart. Such is life. But that means the right home is still out there. And hey, you might be living in it. Tito would make a fine choice for a best friend and hang out guy. He’s chipper, smart, and very friendly. He loves being with people and gets along with other animals…dogs, cats, and even goats. Tito is athletic, quick and has amazing eyes. He’s a mix. Looks like Catahoula and a bully breed to me. If you’re looking for running buddy who will go to the ends of earth with you, here he is.

Happy Tails...
Malfoy is a VERY handsome boy with his speckled nose and one blue eye. He loves attention and is also playful and curious. He has a gentle, calm nature and gets along with most other dogs. He is neutered, house trained and fully vaccinated. Malfoy even knows a few basic commands and rides well in the car! Come meet him today and see what a wonderful dog he is!

This is Wallie. She has beauty…both in looks and personality. Wallie is a happy soul. She also might be part human. Because she uses her paws like hands. Wallie can open doors with them and will use her front paws to grab your. hand or arm. Because most of all, Wallie is a people dog. She wants your attention and to be as close to you as possible. Given half a chance, she’d probably be happiest living in your armpit. Like many people, Wallie is afraid of storms. And she can sing. Her foster says she can do a couple of octaves. Oh, she also does doggy things..like running and romping. She plays hard and needs the exercise. Wallie is probably a lab/bully breed mix. She’s 9 months old, weighs 55 pounds, and she would love to be on the couch with you right now…just smiling and singing,

We will be set up there from 9 - 2pm with SCHS T-shirts to sell and a wish list of items you can purchase in the new store and donate to the shelter.
