This article sums up my philosophy on horse training. HORSEMAN
There are horse trainers, horse traders and horse whisperers. There are show men, show boaters and show offs. There are fast talkers and would be magicians. But then there are true Horsemen and Horsewomen, and these are harder to find and sometimes even harder to recognize because they are often tucked away in quiet hidden places, wor

king slowly and silently without national recognition or appreciation. Often times, the true horseman or woman does not have the most horses in training or those horses that are exceptionally bred or high priced. Often times, the true Horsemen and Women do not have access to big money owners or run through dozens and dozens of prospects in order to find the few that can take the pressure of aged event prize money or high profile exhibition. Many times, the true horsemen and women are slow and steady, methodical and patient, training on an individual horse's timeline and not to a rigid show schedule set by the seasons or show management. These people recognize a horse's physical and mental capabilities and showcase their assets without sacrificing their bodies or minds. Horsemen and women take their time developing their horses' skills and confidence through a traditional steps, one before the next, placing just as much credence in their teaching relationship and equine partnership as they do in show pen results. Horsemen and women are humble because their reward comes from within; from knowing that they have taught through kindness, patience, fortitude, and logic. Their rewards coming from creating a confident horse that works with them and not for them, horses that are not scared or intimidated, horses with solid foundations that last season after season and that carry a gamut of riders from the experienced non pro to the Amateur to the Green Reiner. Always Dedicated. Always Patient. Always Consistent. Whether it be riding young horses, resurrecting older horses, or maintaining the Steady Eddy, a True Horseman is one of the first ones to throw a leg over in the morning and one of the last ones to pull their boots off in the evening. Horsemen and women are a pleasure to watch in the arena or on the ranch as they diligently and patiently impart their knowledge and logic to both horses and students. In an era where the horse industry is so economically driven and success is measured primarily in prize money and accolades, the tradition of the true horseman and the process of training horses seems to be changing; giving way to an assembly line mentality where immediate success and financial compensation take precedence over handcrafted quality and longevity. Dedicated to their craft, loyal to their students, ambitious, hardworking and a role model for anyone interested in making their way in an industry dominated by pressure to build great animals in less and less time, old fashioned horsemen are women are now Artisans, assets to our heritage and traditions and harder and harder to find. A thoughtful teacher, a thorough instructor, a gentle hand, a firm guide, a rational yet fearless showman, the greatest compliment that I think could ever be given to someone who works with horses, is to be thought of as a Horseman. by Becky Hanson

Tonka
11 year old tri-colored grade paint gelding,15.hands, sweet puppy dog personality, loves people and attention.
I purchased, Tonka as a project horse, June 2024. His owner of 10 years said he was her husband's horse and sadly he passed away.
I quickly discovered, Tonka is claustrophobic when he feels the touch of the cinch during the saddling process. His reaction is to back up and sometimes buck during ground work. With patience and understanding the issue disapated, but if Tonka goes for extended periods of time without being saddled the claustrophobic issue may return. For those reasons I am recommend an intermediate rider. Saddling video available upon request. Tonka is very submissive, sensitive wants to please doesn't have a mean bone in his body, no drama... adjust well to knew situations, not hot, nervous, spooky and has alot of common sense... savy on the trails, negotiates creeks, bridges, steep terrain, watercrossings, point and go navigation, prefers to follow, not confident in the lead.
Tonka is a perfect gentleman, Ties, clips, bathes and hauls quite in the trailer.
Tonka has a great foundation in the arena, although not finished... he's a bit on the lazy side but very athletic, precise with snap to be a barrel racing prospect.
If you feel your the right candidate for Tonka, you must be horse savy, horsemanship skills and approved home. I am offering 4 weeks of training with lessons at no charge.
Feel free to contact me for any additional information

Drop dead gorgeous AQHA bay Roan mare, 15.3 hands 14 years old. I owner since weanling, great arena foundation, seasoned trail horse, loves water.
Owner doesn't ride much it's been an extremely emotional and unselfish decision to do what's best for her.
Jewel's beauty mirrors her kind sweet loving disposition and why she was named Jewel.
Jewel is a love bug, huge personality in your pocket, meets you at the gate, a bit mischievous, no marish behavior, kind and friendly with other horses.
Hauls,clips bathes,ties, excellent ground manners.
I've had Jewel a few times for spring tune ups and have always been captivated with her beauty and EXCEPTIONAL DISPOSITION!!

We would like Jewel to go to an intermediate/ advanced rider and approved home.

12-year-old standing at 15.1 hands. “Point and Go” TRAIL HORSE with more WHOA than go. “Tango” (AKA Penny) does everything a good horse should do. Hauls, clips, bathes, shoes, stands quietly while tied and ground tied. Excellent ground manners. She loves attention but is not an “in your pocket” horse.
HER HISTORY:
She started her working career as a pack horse when she was 4. She was too slow and couldn't keep up with the string. She was rehomed and ended up at auction. Diana and Megan O'Brian purchased her through Auction Horses in March of 2013.
Megan and her trainer did extensive groundwork with “Penny” (now called Tango). They never rode her but competed in 4-H Halter and Showmanship. Megan eventually decided to join the service and rehomed her to another individual.
I purchased her as a project horse in June of 2019 not knowing her history. I am a professional trainer and restarted her under saddle. She has a nice foundation. Tango would flourish with an experienced senior/quiet rider with good hands and seat who is looking for a forever horse and isn’t worried about speed. Tango is sensitive, submissive, and always wants to please that special someone who will appreciate her wonderful traits. ABSOLUTELY NO BEGINNERS!
SKILLS:
Tango rides out alone on the trail and is not barn or buddy sour. You can leave her home alone and she's perfectly fine. If another horse takes off in front of her and leaves her in the dust, she doesn't care. She can be on the back burner and her colors don’t change. She is the perfect weekend warrior horse!
Good PROSPECT for RANCH SORTING, OBSTACLE CHALLENGES, COWBOY RACES, MOUNTAIN TRAIL AND RANCH RIDING CHALLENGES
*****PRICED AFFORDABLY IN HOPES OF FINDING THE PERFECT HOME OVER HAVING THE PRICE REFLECT HER TRAINING AND VALUE******** Asking Three, Five Zero Zero.
