We’ve had so many incredible adopters lately adopting our long term residents. We cannot thank them enough for giving these sweet dogs a chance!
Now is Jaden’s turn. She now has the title that no dog wants to have, the longest resident at the shelter.
This one is very surprising to us because of her size. She is probably about 40 lbs, making her on the smaller side for a shelter dog and a true ‘medium’ sized dog.
She gets along with every dog she meets! We use her to test new dogs that come into the shelter because she is so gentle.
She loves to play. She absolutely LOVES water and to swim. She is also a very good girl who can listen and would be a quick learner in a new environment. She is already spayed. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you are interested in one of our favorite girls, please call us to meet her. We would LOVE to see this girl get the life she deserves and has waited so long for!

A lot of you guys will remember Avery. She came into the Shelter having seven pups. All of her puppies were adopted to great homes, and Avery was left here by herself. When she first came into the shelter we just didn’t know what her future would hold because she was very aggressive and we had to separate her from the puppies when we fed and just didn’t know , but come to find out it was just that she was a great mother, taking care of her babies, and as soon as that all was behind her, she was an absolute wonderful, loving dog.
Here are some pictures today of Avery with her little siblings in her forever home. Thank you for sharing this with us, we love getting pictures of our Shelter animals showing how they are doing today.
If you would like to share your pictures with us from an animal you have adopted from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter we would love to have them. You can send them to Messenger on Facebook and we look at that daily and we can pull them up and post them. Thank you.

I don’t know if you guys remember Hamm or not he came in severely emaciated and we fixed him chicken and vegetables and rice daily to get his weight back up.

He was our little escape artist everything we did to keep him in his pen failed, we would come in every morning and he would be greeting us in the hall. He was just so funny.
Here is a picture of him today. He was adopted by a very sweet lady and he is doing absolutely wonderful. She said he hangs around the house and just wants to be loved on which most of the Shelter animals do. Just thought I would show you an update of Hamm. He was my favorite.

🐾 Meet Benji – Your New Best Friend! 🐾

This handsome boy is Benji, a sweet Beagle mix (mostly Beagle!) who has captured all our hearts here at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Benji was found on Howards Mill Road in Mt. Sterling on September 21st, and while he’s been such a good boy, shelter life is stressful for him — he’s ready for a home filled with love and comfort.

Benji is about 3 years old and weighs just 25 pounds, so he’s the perfect medium size and won’t get any bigger. True to his Beagle nature, he’s friendly, social, and great with other animals. Beagles are known for their gentle personalities and are wonderful with children and other pets.

Because he’s a hunting breed, Benji can be curious and loves to explore — so he’ll need a secure, fenced-in yard to keep him safe during his adventures.

Benji will be neutered, microchipped for life, and fully up to date on vaccinations upon adoption. He truly would make anyone a loving and loyal companion.

The volunteers here absolutely adore him and love taking him out to play — but what Benji really needs is a family of his own. ❤️

📞 Call the Montgomery County Animal Shelter at 859-498-8751 to schedule a visit and come meet this precious boy.
Come see why everyone who meets Benji falls in love with him! 🐶💙
