We need your help for a tiny kitten named Slate.
This week, we got a call about a kitten found alone in someone's backyard. He was only about 4Β½ weeks old and had a severely injured eye.
At that age, kittens should still be with their mom. They should be nursing, sleeping in a pile with their siblings, and figuring out how to be kittens.
Instead, Slate was alone, injured, and in pain.
When he arrived at Siskiyou Humane Society, we immediately reached out to Mount Shasta Animal Hospital. After reviewing photos of his injury, they got him in for emergency surgery right away. We are incredibly grateful to their team for making room for this little guy and giving him the care he desperately needed.
The surgery was successful, and Slate is expected to recover well.
What gets us, though, is how unbelievably sweet he is.
This kitten has every reason to be scared. Instead, he purrs the moment you touch him. He wants to be held. He climbs into laps. He plays. He trusts everyone he meets.
He's the kind of kitten who reminds you exactly why this work matters.
Slate is now recovering safely in a foster home, but we're hoping to raise $800 to help cover the cost of his surgery, medications, follow-up care, and continued recovery.
We know times are tough, and we don't make these asks lightly. But when animals like Slate come through our doors, we do everything we can to help themβand we can only do that because of this community.
If Slate's story touches your heart, please you consider making a donation today.
Every gift helps. Every share helps. And every act of kindness helps ensure that kittens like Slate get the chance to grow up healthy, loved, and safe.
Thank you for caring about animals like him. π
