We have wonderful adoption news ~ Holly found a forever home and it's a perfect fit!

We rescued Holly with a nasty broken bone. Following surgery, bandaging, and lots of vet checks, we found the leg was not healing and the bone had become infected! We got Holly another urgent surgery and she thrived as a tripod.

Holly loves people. She is a total lap cat and everyone she meets is charmed by her sweet disposition. The only hurdle to finding her a family was that she is selective about other cats. A lovely family stepped in to give this special girl a home. We knew they'd all love her and she would love them, but we weren't sure how Holly would feel about their two well-mannered dogs.

Well, it turns out Holly is a dog person and she liked them right away. Now she is soaking up the love from everyone and we could not be happier for Holly.

📣Sweet Hazel needs a new home (Maryland)

Five years ago, Hazel found her home—a family who loved her and gave her a cozy life. She grew into a calm, affectionate, and endlessly sweet cat, the kind of companion who leaves a paw print on your heart.

Life has brought an unexpected turn, and Hazel’s family is moving to a new place where, sadly, they said they cannot take her along. Hazel is back with us at Alley Cat Rescue through no fault of hers. She lost her home and her feline best friend all at once. Despite this, she is ready to love again and greets people with bright eyes, tail held high!

Hazel is the same gentle, loving kitty we remember. She enjoys curling up in laps, quietly observing the world, and getting a little extra attention wherever she goes. We’re now helping her adjust to her temporary stay with us and preparing to match her with a family who can give her the love and stability she deserves for the next chapter of her life.

From orphans to best friends — meet Casey and Cooper 💛

They weren’t born together, but their stories are nearly the same.
Both were found as newborn orphans — just a few days old, eyes still closed, and no mother in sight.

Tiny Casey was rushed to urgent care at only 8 days old when a dangerous infection nearly took his life.

Happy Update: Mama and Her Babies Are Safe! Name Suggestions Needed!!!

We’re thrilled to share that the mama cat we recently rescued has been safely reunited with her kittens — all are now indoors and out of danger! 🐾

The moment they were together, the babies immediately started feeding, and mama began grooming them lovingly. She’s settling in beautifully, keeping a close eye on her little ones while starting to relax and enjoy some well-deserved comfort. The kittens are healthy, playful, and curious, exploring their new safe space under her watchful eye.

This is exactly why rescue matters — every mama and every kitten deserves a chance to grow up safe, warm, and loved.

At first glance, the cat in this picture might look calm — but she’s struggling.

We found this young mother fiercely guarding her newborn kittens, hidden deep inside an old tin barrel. When our ACR team member approached, she watched with wide, fearful eyes as the trap was gently set — the first step toward bringing her and her babies to safety indoors.

This mama was totally exhausted. She was trying to do everything — protect her kittens from predators, find enough food to produce milk, and stay alive herself. It’s an impossible struggle no mother should have to face.

For countless stray and feral cats, this cycle never ends. They endure pregnancy after pregnancy, hunger, fear, and loss. And tragically, **75–80% of kittens born outdoors don’t survive past six months.**

💔 **This is why spay/neuter saves lives — not just of kittens, but of the mothers, too.**
TNR breaks the endless cycle of suffering and gives cats a chance to live healthy, peaceful lives.
