Arie came to the United States from Holland to attend a police K9 training school in North Carolina. In July 2013, Arie became Matt’s K9 partner and loyal companion, officially joining the Mount Pleasant Police Department in September 2013.

During his distinguished service with the department, Arie played a vital role in firearm recoveries, suspect apprehensions, building searches, tracking operations, narcotics detection, and bite work training. He was also one of the department’s first patrol dogs, helping pave the way for the K9 program.

Arie truly loved his work, especially trips to the K9 agility course and tracking. His favorite toy was his Kong, which somehow always managed to get stuck on one of his teeth — a memory that brought laughter to those who knew him best.

After retiring in March 2019, Arie spent the rest of his years at home with Matt and Lauren, enjoying a well-earned life of comfort and love. His days were filled with naps in his bed, laying in the sunshine, playing with his housemates, and always carrying a toy in his mouth.

Arie will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His loyalty, service, and companionship left lasting paw prints on the hearts of many.
