Serendipity’s name couldn’t be more fitting—her journey may have started in fear and uncertainty, but she’s been a beautiful surprise 🌟 to everyone who’s had the chance to know her.

She arrived at our shelter in a heartbreaking way 💔: left outside our building in the middle of a freezing January night ❄️, crammed in a soft-sided carrier with her feline companion, Fortuna 🐾. Our cameras showed they had been out there alone from 11 p.m. until morning—cold, scared, and abandoned.

Despite that rough start, Serendipity immediately showed signs of wanting connection 💞. She would run up to greet us, flop on her side 💫, and make it clear she wanted to be near people—but she was terrified of being touched 🙀. At first, any attempt to pet her was met with swats and fear-driven defensiveness 🖐️💢. But over time, with gentle consistency and love, she has made tremendous progress. 🌱

Serendipity still isn’t comfortable with hands just yet 🤲, but she’s always happy to have a human nearby 👀💛. She thrives in a calm, quiet space 🧘‍♀️, and we believe that with time, trust, and patience, she has the potential to become a deeply loyal and loving companion 🐾❤️.

She’s been healing like a champ, but the stress of shelter life is slowing her recovery 😿—and that’s where YOU come in! 🙏

Tiger Lily is very aware of her surroundings 👀 and loves to soak in the world from her cozy little perch 🪟🛋️. She’s not a loud or demanding kitty—she’s more of a “curl up in your lap for gentle pets” kind of girl 🐱💤. And head scratches? Absolute favorite! 💆‍♀️💖

She’s got a playful side too! 🧶⚽ Toy balls? She’ll chase them like a pro! But her true passion? Exploring new spaces at her own calm, curious pace 🧭🕵️‍♀️. Tiger Lily would love to be the only pet in the home so she can soak up all the love, snuggles, and attention she deserves 💕👑.

👋 Hi everyone, my name is Katie, and I’m the Foster Coordinator here at HATS.

I want to take a moment to send a huge thank you to all of our incredible foster families. Whether you're fostering your first animal or your fifteenth, your kindness and compassion make a world of difference. I truly cannot thank you enough – and I know the animals in your care feel the same.

That said, we’re still in need of more fosters, and we currently have some animals that need foster homes ASAP. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is the time to step in and make a difference.

The shelter can be overwhelming for many animals. It’s loud, unfamiliar, and stressful. But when they go into a foster home, something beautiful happens – they begin to decompress, feel safe, and show their true personalities.

💛 Fostering doesn’t just help them in the moment – it sets them up for long-term success. Animals who’ve spent time in a loving foster home often become more confident, better adjusted, and more prepared to transition into their forever homes.

Once upon a time, in a busy land filled with barking and bustling, lived a gentle pup named Theodore. The shelter he called home was full of kind hearts, but it was still a stressful place for a sensitive soul like him. With so many sounds, smells, and changes, Theodore started to fade into the background. He was eating, but losing weight. He was there, but not really there. His spark? Missing. His tail? Not wagging.

Enter: one heroic foster family and a dash of magic. 💫

🐶Cass: This California-cool cattle dog mix is a total love bug! Lower energy than her breed typically suggests, she'd happily spend her days strolling in the park and cuddling on the couch. Good with other dogs, cats, and kids, Cass is looking for a family who will shower her with love and give her plenty of belly rubs. (2.5 years old)

🐾Sophia: A high-energy lab mix bursting with youthful zest. (just over 1 year old) This California gal is a playful pal who enjoys yard time and playtime with her toys. While she's still learning the ropes of leash walks, her enthusiasm for life makes her the perfect companion for an active family committed to training. She's a sweet heart, loving and good with kids and other dogs. Potentially cat-testable.

🐺Harley: This medium-sized American Pit Bull Terrier mix packs a sweet heart under a high-energy exterior! With a history of living with kids and other dogs, Harley is all about fun. She's a true dynamo, seeking a home with an equally active family.

😻Wow! A HUGE Thank You to the Mt. Pleasant Eagles Club Aerie #4463! 😻

A huge surprise visit from the President of the Mt. Pleasant Eagles Club Aerie #4463 last Friday brought us a heartwarming donation of $1,000! This incredible act of generosity, stemming from the collective donations of club members, is truly inspiring.

This $1,000 will directly fund 10 vital spay/neuter surgeries for shelter pets, ensuring they're healthy and ready to find loving homes. We're incredibly grateful for this significant contribution to our lifesaving work.

Honeybee is a gentle, loving girl who’s looking for a new foster ASAP due to unforeseen medical issues with her current foster parent. She’s a total sweetheart who just wants a cozy spot and a kind heart to call her own.
