Information on Accessing Businesses on W. Franklin Street
(10-31-2025 until it changes)
🚜Earlier this week, the Town of Mount Pleasant’s waterline project shifted from N. Main Street to W. Franklin Street. N. Main Street is now open and all business on N. Main Street are accessible. W. Franklin St. (Hwy. 73) now has a hard closure at Halifax Street that is scheduled for approximately 8 weeks. Two crews will be working towards College Street from Halifax Street and Main Street to complete this section as quickly as possible. This closure was required by NCDOT due to the tight proximity of the work zone. Lane closure and flagging was not permitted by NCDOT in this section. Through-traffic is not permitted through the closure. Through-traffic is detoured up N. Main Street. Local traffic accessing businesses and residences on W. Franklin is permitted. We understand this can be confusing for people trying to access businesses on W. Franklin St. So here is breakdown of the best way to access those businesses (as of Oct. 31), based on information provided by the utility contractor and NCDOT:

🚗Enter W. Franklin St. from the Main Street side to access the following businesses:
-WAB #13
-Well Doctor LLC,Honeybee Septic, and One & Done Inspections
-Honeycutt's Quality Tire
-Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital
-Shear Happiness Salon
-Hall Clinic of Chiropractic

🚕Enter the public parking lot driveway from N. Main Street (westbound) to access the following businesses:
-JC Auto
-Mount Pleasant Smokehouse
-Grumpy's Ice Cream Parlor
-G2 Real Estate

🚙Enter the driveway at Buddy’s Place from S. Main Street to access public parking for the following businesses:
-Mount Pleasant Barbershop
-Landon Lane Candle Co.
-Edward Jones Office-Bruce Lau
-Moose Pharmacy
-Buddy’s Place

🛻Enter W. Franklin St. from the Hwy. 49 side (eastbound) to access the following businesses:

🚘Enter Barringer Drive from S. Main Street to access residences on the following streets:
-S. College Street
-Ludwig Street
-Hillside Drive
-Ridge Avenue
-New Street
-Summer St.

Note: Please continue to support these businesses during this time. We know it's frustrating but feasible with a little patience, grace, and courtesy. ❤

Another Note: There is also the added bonus of Duke Energy’s subcontractor wrapping up their unannounced electric upgrade project during work week hours through mid-November. This week they have been on N. College Street and parts of W. Franklin Street. You never really know where they are going to pop up, and we have given up trying. May the odds be ever in your favor. ✌️

Yet Another Note: The waterline installation will be complete by the end of the year. After that, there will areas that need restoration (sidewalk/curb/yard repair). Then NCDOT will come back early in 2026 resurface Main St. and Franklin St. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and at the end of the tunnel, there will be 4 miles of new waterlines for better water quality and fire flow for the Town.
