Tennessee Lavender Company

Tennessee Lavender Company We are "The Herb Nerds!" We grow over 12 different kinds of lavender and are a certified apiary. Lavender and bee products in Mt Juliet, TN. Hey, y'all!

Everything we make is locally grown, pesticide free, and lovingly hand harvested. Family- and veteran-owned! Welcome to our Lavender Patch! We grow more than 12 different varieties of lavender in our garden, right here in Mt. Juliet, TN. Most people don't realize that there ARE that many varieties of lavender, so we proudly call ourselves “The Herb Nerds!” As apiarists (beekeepers), pollinators ar

e one of our priorities. Everything that we grow and make is pesticide-free, handled with care, and made with as few ingredients as possible, so you know exactly what you're getting each time you buy our products. If we don't produce it, we try our best to source it locally. We began our business as a labor of love: we wanted food for our bees to forage and envisioned turning our front yard from unproductive grass into a gorgeous field of lavender. With lots of hard work, blood, sweat, and a few broken pickaxes, we have made it happen, and we couldn't be prouder of the products we have made with our harvests. When we aren't at a market, you can always reach us online for orders, product availability, or other inquiries. We'd love to hear from y'all!

Look who came to visit our lavender garden today!

This is a Hummingbird Clear-Wing Moth, named because their wings and movements imitate those of hummingbirds. We have only seen one or two of these friends and are so excited to see them! A variety of pollinators is a sign of a healthy ecosystem.

Meet Your Beekeepers! 🐝

Mike and Jessica started beekeeping because they wanted more pollinators for their fruit trees (peaches and plums, mostly) that were blooming too early for the native pollinators. They’ve learned a lot through textbooks, trial and error, the Wilson County Beekeepers Association and the Heroes to Hives program for veterans ( ). The bees are managed as livestock, so their needs vary by season and weather. Mike’s favorite thing about beekeeping is learning how bees function as a macro-organism, and Jessica’s favorite is learning about their behavior.

When they get excess honey, they share it with their neighbors as a “thank you” for planting bee-friendly plants, not using pesticides in their yards, and tolerating the errant forager in their pool. They hope to eventually have honey to sell, but in the meantime are working on a collaboration with Jammy Farms in Mt. Juliet, TN.

Our bees were busy coming back into the hive after our inspection today! The extra comb on the ground is some that they built in bad places, so we leave them outside of the hive to let the bees reclaim it.

What’s blooming at our house? Here are a few things:

1. Creeping thyme: a favorite of our pollinators
2. Rosemary: a relative of lavender, and yes, it flowers!
3. Buttercups: an important wild pollinator-friendly bloom
4. Crossvine trumpet flowers: a favorite of the hummingbirds
5. Peonies!!!! Jessica’s favorite which usually bloom closer to Mothers Day, indicating that the weather has us about 3 weeks ahead of schedule
