URGENT message re: microchips!
Please help spread the word and share this post.
One of the largest pet microchip registering companies "Save This Life" has closed with no warning.
If your pet's chip is registered with them, you need to re-register it with another company now.
If the chip number starts with 991 or 900164, it's likely you have a "Save This Life" microchip, and you need to get it re-registered.
To check if your pet has a Save This Life microchip, google "microchip registry lookup tool" and it'll take you to several pages where you can look up your pet's to see which company has it registered. You'll need to type in your pet's microchip number.
If your pet is registered with Save This Life, you can re-register them (I believe for free) at another company such as PetLink.net or AKCReunite.org.
It's always a good idea to make sure that all of the information the chip company is up to date anyway with your current cell, address, etc.
If you don't know your pet's microchip number, your vet can scan your pet and give it to you. They should also have the number in their system so a quick phone call to them and you should be able to get it.
If you adopted your pet from a rescue, they should have the chip number too and it should be on the paperwork you received from them.
I do know there are local vets and rescues in the Charlotte NC area that used them.
Please make sure your pet's microchip information is up to date.
