Here’s a short video of my little buddy Sweet Pea holding a Down/Stay outside while I walked around the yard.

Another great lesson with my little buddy Sweet Pea (right). Of course Babydoll wanted in on the picture again. Today we worked on calmness and self control when guests arrive. The owner has 3 dogs altogether and all 3 dogs settled down immediately when given the command ‘Quiet’.

Then we went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. We reviewed all of her commands around various distractions. I made a video of her holding a Down/Stay while I walked around the yard. She did great with everything. I made sure to give all 3 dogs lots of hugs and kisses for everyone.

You’ve seen my little buddy Pope at his home, Wawa, and Ferran Park. Today we took this handsome Doberman puppy to Lowe’s. He’s getting so big and he looks exactly like what you image when you think of his breed.

It was a very busy day at Lowe’s with dozens of contractors coming and going. There was so much going on in the parking lot that we didn’t bother go inside. His owners have taken him inside a couple of times without me.

Remember, training takes place everywhere, not just inside stores or parks. Teach your dog to behave in the parking lot outside the store of park, groomers, or vets office.

I just love the markings on Delilah! She’s adorable and so full of love and energy. We took her on a walk around the neighborhood. We saw some dogs that were completely out of control, but Delilah showed them how a dog should behave by walking calmly and ignoring them as they pulled and barked at her.

Then we walked her down by a construction crew. She held remained calm there holding a sit/stay or down/stay. We finished up by giving her some free time to play in this field where she got to sniff around and wrestle with me. Delilah loved this cool weather, but as you can see by the fact that I’m wearing pants, that I miss summer. 😃

Another great lesson with my handsome buddy Beau! You’ll recall from his last post that this rescued 7 year old Golden has issues with fear aggression. Today we reviewed Place outside around countless distractions. We also taught him to walk calmly on a loose leash (Heel) and Sit/Stay.

We saw neighbors cleaning up after the storm, people coming and going, delivery trucks, another dog, and even a Channel 2 News truck that stopped and talked to the client! Using the commands in real-world situations teaches dogs calmness and self-control. Beau is learning that he doesn’t need to react to every noise or person, and to trust his owners.

Graduation Day for my handsome little buddy Stewie! Today we took him on a golf cart ride around the neighborhood. Then we took him for a walk and reviewed all of his commands. Stewie did amazing as always! This anxious rescue is a brand new dog with a bright future. Be sure to check out his other pictures and the video of him showing everyone how to Heel like a champ!

Another great lesson with this beautiful pack today! Penny (1yr Boxer) and Roscoe (7yr Blackmouth Cur) are both super smart. Today we reviewed all of their commands inside and then outside around the pool.

We also taught them not to counter surf. Many dogs do this to steal food. Theh learned to leave food alone that doesn’t belong to them. We used cheese and turkey. We even put the food on the floor. The client texted me and told me that she practiced thix by leaving food on the counter while she cooked dinner. She told me that noone touched the food and her husband couldn’t believe it. I’m very proud of them both.

Welcome my new little buddy Maggie to the ABC Pack! This adorable Old English Sheepdog is 8 months old and full of love and energy. When I first arrived, she was jumping, barking, and out of control. After going over the client’s goals and issues that needed to be addressed with Maggie, we taught her the Place command. They couldn’t believe the radical improvement in Maggie’s behavior after just 5 minutes!

The client even vacuumed the floor while Maggie remained calm and on her bed. Before she would chase the vacuum cleaner around. We also practiced going in/out of the front door. Maggie performed everything like a champ and the owners are now encouraged. Remember, you CAN see improvements on the very FIRST lesson with the right training.

Looks who’s back in town! My little buddy Delilah had her first lesson a few months ago. She is now back in Florida full time so we resumed her training. We reviewed Place outside around a busy neighborhood and then taught her how to walk calmly on a loose leash (Heel) and Sit/Stay. Delilah did great with everything and I gave her lots of hugs and kisses for everyone.
