I’ll admit, I’ve not been the biggest fan of AI technology. But recently I discovered that it can create some truly beautiful things. πŸΎπŸ’•

Custom pieces of art like paintings are not new or uncommon in the world of pet memorial products. But commissioning something like a custom painting can be expensive and time consuming. Enter AI generated art.✨

With the help of my tech-savvy husband, we created a master prompt to input a photo of a pet and have it produce these gorgeous personalized memorial images of the pet sleeping peacefully in a flower garden. 🌷πŸͺ»

The shepherd sample picture is of my angel, Una, who crossed the rainbow bridge last February. As you can see, I choose an original photo that already shows her in a lying position. The AI engine does the rest of the work!

The other sample pic is of my shepherd mix, Dallas. To generate her image, we added her favorite toy (Lambchop) to the input prompt. I love how peaceful and cozy she looks in the garden with her special toy. πŸ₯°πŸŒˆπŸΎ

If you’d like to see your pet in our AI memorial garden prompt, send a private message to the Family Paws page! I would be happy to create a beautiful keepsake image of your beloved companion and send you the digital copy. Don’t forget to include any special toys or details you’d like included in your pet’s memorial garden! 🌼🐈

Happy New Year!πŸŽ‰

For me, the New Year symbolizes not only the promise of new beginnings but the importance of reflection. As a veterinarian, I’m always pushing myself to learn more and to refine my skills through my experiences with my patients. This kind of reflection allows me to grow both professionally and personally.

So for the past few days, I’ve been compiling and reading through my clients’ testimonials and reviews for the year of 2025.

I truly do not know how to convey just how much the words of the people I’ve helped mean to me. I am humbled. I am grateful. And I am so very fulfilled.🫢🏻

I get to wake up every day and use the knowledge in my brain and the skills of my hands to provide comfort and to end suffering. I feel a deep sense of duty to give peace to both my animal patients and their beloved people. 🐾

And so, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for these kind words of gratitude and appreciation over this past year. End-of-life veterinary medicine has filled my soul with purpose and passion. It is part of my life’s greatest work and has healed and saved me in ways I could never have imagined.

All my love🩡,
Dr. Kristen Wagner

Happy Holidays everyone! πŸŽ„β€οΈπŸ’š
As we end the year, I wanted to start something new! See the attached blue graphic for details! 🐾

I’ll go first by telling you about my dear friend BlueπŸ’™. He lived an extraordinary life, so very well loved by his people, Jen and Nathan. But the day Blue and I met, he was being rushed into the treatment room of the veterinary hospital I was working at. My very first job as a vet, only about a year or so into practice. However, I didn’t need much experience to quickly triage Blue and analyze that he was in serious trouble.

β€œHit by a train!” I heard my veterinary technician say as she wheeled him into the treatment room on a stretcher. Surely, I’d heard that wrong. β€œHe lives in Danville with his owners and got loose. He ran over the tracks and the train hit him as it plowed by!”

That was 6 years ago. Blue’s road to recovery after his train accident was a long one, so we got to know each other pretty well. This tough boy overcame each and every injury with such resilience and grace. Though most of his tail had to be amputated (the train partially detached it), he was still as handsome and sweet as ever.

The first two photos were taken during one of Blue’s post-accident check-ups. My favorite is the one where he jumps up onto my arms for a kiss, reassuring me how much better he felt.

The next two photos are of Blue and I reuniting during an in-home wellness visit in August of 2021. I had left clinical practice about a year before that to start Family Paws Mobile Vet Care. And I was so excited to receive an appointment request for an in-home visit from Blue’s mom, Jen!

Two months ago in October, Blue and I reunited one final time in his home. The years had weakened his body (he had lived to be over 16!), but he was lying cozy in his bed in the living room, made comfortable and absolutely doted upon by his mom and dad, Jen and Nathan. Blue wasn’t able to get up and walk over to greet me, so I quickly put my doctor bag down and got down on my knees on the floor beside him. Our eyes met, β€œHello old friend”, Blue’s expression seemed to say, β€œI’ve been waiting for you, and I’m ready.”

I helped my dear friend, Blue, find his everlasting peace that day as I sent him running over the Rainbow Bridge. Myself, Jen, Nathan and Blue’s favorite vet tech, Sarah, surrounded him with love as he gently took his last breath and his beautiful soul left this world. 🌈

If you are grieving or have grieved your own Blue and would like to tell their story, please never hesitate to reach out to me. I am truly so very grateful to hear of the beautiful, happy memories you shared with your beloved companions. And, of course, I love seeing photos captured of their lives lived by your side. 🐾

🀍All my love,
Dr. Kristen Wagner

Helping kids understand the loss of a beloved pet isn’t easy… but the right story can make all the difference πŸ’›

Here are three gentle, beautifully written books we recommend to families during in-home end-of-life care:

πŸ“˜ The Invisible Leash by Patrice Karst
A heartfelt story that explains how the love we share with our pets stays with us..even after they’re gone.

πŸ’™ I’ll Always Love You by Hans Wilhelm
A simple, tender story about a boy and his dog, reminding kids that love never fades.

πŸ“• Girl, We’ve Loved You So by Alissa Holder & Zulekha Holder-Young
A touching way to honor the life of a pet, helping children express their feelings and say goodbye with love.

These books open the door for healing conversations and help little hearts feel seen and supported.

You’re never alone in this… we’re here for your whole family 🐾
