Just letting all of our clients know that as of today 11/25/25 and for the near future it is a requirement that all horses attending any kind of horse gathering must have a certificate of veterinary inspection or health certificate. This is true even of intrastate gatherings. For intrastate activities these certificates should be good for 30 days as long as the horse shows no signs of illness. For interstate travel please check with us as states are in some cases temporarily amending their rules.

There's been a lot of information and misinformation currently being reported about Equine Herpes virus or as seen EHV1 and EHM. This virus can be serious if contracted. It is spread by direct contact from horse to horse or in a small number of cases by contact of nasal secretions from a sick horse on clothing, brushes , buckets, or things like these.
We do see cases every year around the country even if it's not reported. Fear is not helpful but to make it simple remember 3 things.
1) Be diligent about your biosecurity.
make sure horses that come to the farm as well as those on the farm are up to date for the vaccine. Make sure new additions are not showing signs of illness. If possible quarantine any new arrivals.
2) Be smart. If you have to go to a facility with unknown horses avoid contact with any horse or equipment that isn't your own.
3) Don't panic- So far this outbreak isn't wildly spreading and panic may cloud your ability to recognize any signs your horse may show.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
