A day in the life of our 6 week puppies... broke down into about 30 seconds. The days are much longer!
We really work on setting our puppies up for success. We keep a routine so they know what to expect and get into good habits. I treat my puppies like I did my babies, on a sleep, eat, play, then repeat routine. This helps create good sleeping and potty habits for them and a good predictable routine for them and me.
We get up between 7-8, and they eat, then it's play time and enrichment/curriculum for 30-45 minutes. I can always tell when they start to get tired because they will act over stimulated. They start to get nippy with each other and me. That's our cue it's time for a nap. Puppies at this age sleep a lot! 6 week old puppies are sleeping on average 18-20 hours a day! They are going at a rapid rate, and sleep helps their bodies accomplish that.
Naptime latest 2-3 hours. Then they are up again, and we begin our routine cycle of eat and play all over. Each day, we try something new. Either new toys, grooming, noises, or seeing a new area of the house. This is done in our afternoon playtime. On this day, it baths, nail trims, two dries, and pictures. This is such good practice for them. Grooming is an essential part of a doodles life. Practicing this is very important to me. They did great on this day with minimal whining.
We have dinner around 6 pm along with another playtime. Our last playtime is around 9 pm, this is to really prep them for bed. They get all of my little families' attention, lots of play and snuggles. Right now, they are in full weaning stages. At this time, Indy will let them nurse one last time. Just a little snack to hold them over for the night. Then it's lights out. We turn on the classical music that is our night time sleeping music and everyone settles in for the night.
