It’s been a while since I’ve seen K9 Edo but I will never forget him because of how loving he was. Edo and his family showed me behind the curtain what the public doesn’t often get to see. These K9s who protect their partners, protect the community, they ultimately at the end of the day go home to protect their own family, their own house and their own backyard just like every other dog. I’ve always viewed them as loaded weapons capable of their skilled training yes, some of them a little bit of a screw loose to be as necessarily aggressive - but for the most part these dogs have a family that loves them just like any other pet - and as you can see here - these K9s enjoy just like any other dog to lay in the grass and get belly rubs, to paw at you when you stop to ask for more, to play fetch, and to take trips with the family to the ocean. These dogs are amazing because they are so useful to the community and so very much loved by the families who care for them while serving and into their retirement. I loved seeing Edo posted in the news for catching bad guys and I loved seeing Edo in the grass happy, just being a dog. He lived the best of both worlds. Thank you for being the first K9 to show me both sides. Good job Edo, good boy and rest easy.
