✨ Introducing Seeking Horsemanship at DeBoer Equestrian Farm ✨
Hi everyone! My name is Shannon, and I’m the trainer behind Seeking Horsemanship. I’m excited to officially begin operating and collaborating with DeBoer Equestrian Farm.
I’ve been training horses for over 15 years, primarily in western disciplines, though I also have English experience as well. My background has centered mostly around western speed events — especially barrel racing, which has always been my greatest passion — but I’ve also worked in reining, ranch work, western dressage, and obstacles.
On the English side, I have experience with track racehorses, classical dressage through the training levels, and low-level jumping. Working across multiple disciplines has helped shape my belief that good horsemanship always transcends discipline labels.
In addition to training, I also do some farrier work focused primarily on barefoot rehabilitation, hoof balance and building live soft tissues. While working for trainers at Tampa Bay Downs, I completed my farrier apprenticeship there. Ultimately, due to both the physical demands and where my passion truly lies, I chose not to pursue farriery as my primary career. Instead, it became another tool that has allowed me to better understand movement, biomechanics, and how to help the horses that come through my program.
Over the years I’ve worked at many different barns and ranches, helping manage horses, clients, and business operations. I’ve tried to carry the lessons from every experience with me and use them to create something better each step forward. I strive to live by the principles of leaving things better than I found them, speaking life into people and animals, and being as gentle as possible while still as firm as necessary.
At the heart of Seeking Horsemanship is the belief that we should always remain students of the horse. Horsemanship is an endless journey of learning, discipline, humility, and self-improvement, and I’m grateful every day to continue that journey alongside these animals.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me relaxing in a hammock near my horses with a good book, or in front of a canvas with a paintbrush in hand.
I’m looking forward to this next chapter and excited to work with both new and familiar faces here at DeBoer Equestrian Farm. 🐴
