WEDNESDAY HIGHLIGHT

Introducing the heart and soul of If Wishes Were Horses: our program director, Donna Brandt.

Before lessons start and after the last student heads home for the day, Donna is hard at work caring for the horses, connecting with clients and volunteers, advocating for the foundation, planning events and fundraisers, and writing grants.

She brings joy, purpose, confidence, and compassion to everyone she encounters, inspiring both students and volunteers alike. You’ll often find her just outside the spotlight in photos, smiling, radiating joy, and celebrating the peace and healing found through the companionship of horses.

We are incredibly grateful for her steady presence on and off the farm!

At If Wishes Were Horses Foundation, we believe in the profound healing that comes through partnership with horses. These remarkable animals act as mirrors, reflecting our emotions and body language back to us. When we are anxious, they sense our unease; when we carry ourselves with calm assurance, they respond in kind. In this way, horses invite us to greater self-awareness—an insight that often extends far beyond the barn.

Equine therapy nurtures healing on every level—physical, emotional, and mental. Sharing in the care and responsibility of another living being cultivates courage, independence, and a deep sense of empowerment. Our hope is that the growth our clients discover here continues to ripple through every part of their lives.

Every year, we eagerly host a horse show for our clients, allowing them to share their achievements with friends and family. This year, we've invited local 4-H members to join us, showcasing and demonstrating advanced skills in a friendly, enjoyable competition. To ensure fun for the entire family, we've included local face painters, outdoor games, and an open house of our facility. Concessions will feature pulled pork sandwiches, beans, chips, and a beverage for $15. All proceeds will support the If Wishes Were Horses Foundation, and your support and donations are greatly appreciated.
