First off, DO NOT EVER leave an animal outside of the shelter in this heat, especially directly in the sun. That is a good way to end up with a very injured or dead animal. If you have an animal and you are needing to bring it to us while we are not here, get ahold of dispatch so they can get ahold of us. DO NOT LEAVE ANIMALS OUT IN THIS WEATHER!!!!!

Secondly, to whoever left this poor cat outside, no message, no voicemail, no nothing, I hope you are happy now because she is basically dead. She is in severe heat stroke because of your actions. YOU LEFT HER OUT IN THE HEAT WITH NOTHING. If you happen to recognize this cat carrier, please get ahold of us. This is a very serious matter. Think about what you are doing before you do it. No matter what the circumstance was, this poor cat is having serious health problems because someone thought it was a good idea to leave her directly in the sun for who knows who long.

We are all set up and ready to go!!! Come see us at Alsip in St. John, we will be here until about 2:30 or so.

Indiana spay neuter transport dates and locations for July 2025. To schedule your cat or dog for a surgery, please call our transport line at 317-675-0072 and leave a message. You can also visit our website at www.lowcostspayneuterindiana.org to complete an online submission form to start the appointment process. When you go to our website, you have to choose the transport button and "schedule transportation;" otherwise, you will be directed to choose between our Brownsburg or Noblesville clinics. We do not transport for vaccines only; however, vaccinations can be done at the same time as a spay, neuter, or dental. We do not require an appointment for feral cats; therefore, you can bring up to 2 feral cats per day per person. Please keep in mind that for some transports we are booking out several months. Also, some locations have been temporarily postponed and some check-in or return times have changed. We look forward to caring for your pets!

The sweet girl who has been roaming around Morocco the past couple days has been caught. Took her to the vet and she is healthy besides a heart murmur and a little underweight.

With that being said, we are still searching for any signs of her having puppies in the area she was roaming. Still have not seen anything. If you happen to be out and about in the woods on Beaver Street by the railroad hump and see or hear puppies, PLEASE get ahold of us. We are thinking she may have been dumped without them though.

Her name is now Nina and she is the sweetest girl ❤️

Our Story

The Newton County Animal Shelter works with Newton County Animal Control. After a five day holding period all animals brought in as strays by Newton County Animal Control will be placed up for adoption or rescue on this page. Adoption through the Newton County Animal Shelter is a simple process and is free, donations are appreciated. Upon adopting an animal the adopter has 30 days to have the animal seen by a vet and have that animal spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated. If you fail to do this it is a $200 fine. We are dedicated to finding the animals of Newton county loving homes and a good quality of life.
