Venus flytraps are looking really good.
Also bringing a nice selection and native perennial flowers along with a couple shrubs such as elderberry, button bush, silky dogwood, Virginia sweet spire, Swamp rose bush.

Little update on the nursery, first year perennials are coming right along!
Our shrubs are finally getting some size to them, and we have a nice diverse selection of them.
We are starting another round of seeds for our 27 spring, will show y’all that process as we do it!
And tons of seed collecting coming up, my favorite time of year!

One of the many things we deal with as native plant conservationists is loosing a stand that is not only beautiful, but supports so much wildlife, and pollinators that are a major role of our ecosystem. We had hopes of collecting maypops, to provide this local ecotype to our valued customers.
This is so disappointing to see.
A once beautiful stand of Passiflora incarnata - purple passion vine, completely wiped out by norfolk southern, or the city of Morganton.
I understand having the public easement clear, but the only plant sprayed here was the passion vine… We can’t win them all folks but we try our dang best to safeguard and preserve our native species.

We are happy to announce we will be at the Drexel farmers and craft market tomorrow (Sunday) from 12:30pm - 3:00pm in the front lawn of the R.O Huffman center, 700 S Main St, Drexel, NC 28619
