✨ Linear Appraisal 2025 ✨
This past weekend was our third time participating in ADGA’s Linear Appraisal—and what an incredible experience it was! My girls looked amazing, and I’m so thankful for everything I learned. Huge thanks to everyone who helped behind the scenes and to our appraiser, who took the time to explain each score and answer questions so thoroughly.

I’m so grateful to ADGA for making this program available—it’s such a vital tool for herd improvement and education.

And the cherry on top? Two of my homebred does earned outstanding scores… including my very first EEEE92!

I’m beyond proud of how my herd is developing. Moments like these make all the hard work worth it. 💜

I turned on the milk machine this morning and it sounded weird. Then it blew the lid and filter off scaring the 💩 out of me and the doe I was getting ready to milk. Turns out a wasp had gone up the hose and built a mud nest in there. That wasp won’t be building any more nests. Hopefully others stay away. 😵‍💫

Slidewater Selene is one of my first Slidewater Kronos daughters, and she is such a pretty girl with quite the spunky personality. She placed 1st in Ring One this past weekend, and I was so excited that Jennifer Davis caught the judge’s comments: “This is a really strong lineup with a lot of consistency from top to bottom. Starting at the head of the line is a doe kid that pretty easily finds her way to the top for me. She’s excelling specifically over that second place doe in front end assembly. She has front legs that sit more correctly beneath the shoulder, plus just having a little more prominence and depth in her front end at this point in her development. Plus, she has an advantage in dairy strength having a longer bone pattern throughout. Longer in the back, longer in her rump, also longer in the neck when she hold her head up and is on the move.” Selene likes to walk in the ring but she doesn’t like to stand still for long. Renee Wolf has seen Selene twice and both times commented that she looks very similar to some of her doe kids. 😁

Slidewater V Chloe looked so beautiful yesterday! She took first in all three rings and competed in the championship round three times against the other beautiful class winners. She was selected Reserved Grand Champion in Ring 3. ❤️ Hopefully there are more pictures out there. Her daughter Slidewater Abilene is 2 and she looked really beautiful too. My memory is blurry but she placed 2nd in one ring and in the top 5 in the other two rings. My girls mature a little bit later than some and three years old seems to be the age they just pull all the pieces together.

I don’t really mind clipping goat kids because it’s exciting to see what’s underneath the baby fluff. But I really dislike clipping adults. It’s too bad they don’t just shed when the weather warms up and have a perfectly smooth short coat. 😞
