We are excited to offer dog obedience, rally, and conformation classes at our location in Mora, MN. We also have TONS of other activities and other classes to offer. We have a combined experience of 24+ years of training, behavior shaping, and reactive dog mediation with a balanced approach to training. We use positive reinforcement while teaching good behavior!

Last call for Puppy Kindergarten, starting today!

Life with a puppy is full of exciting firsts, big feelings, and plenty of learning for both of you. Those early months are a wonderful opportunity to start building the kind of relationship you want to have with your dog for years to come.

Puppy Kindergarten at The Responsible Dog is about so much more than teaching your puppy to sit. We'll work on foundational skills like recalls, loose-leash walking, and settling, while also building confidence, encouraging positive social experiences, and helping you understand how your puppy learns.

Our goal isn't to raise a perfect puppy. It's to help you and your puppy learn how to navigate the world together.

Our next class starts tonight, October 27th at 5:00 p.m. in Mora! Puppies under 6 months are welcome, and the class is eligible for the AKC STAR Puppy program.

The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program gives you something new to work toward. It's about more than obedience cues. It's about building a dog who can navigate everyday life with good manners, confidence, and a little more reliability.

Our Obedience II class helps you keep building on those basics while preparing for the CGC test.

Training doesn't have to end when your dog learns the basics. Sometimes, that's where the fun really begins.

Even better? 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Kanabec County 4-H Dog Project to support the kids and their dogs.

Have you been thinking about signing up for a training class with your dog? This is your reminder that our next Beginner Obedience class starts tomorrow, October 20, at 6:00 PM!

This 6-week class is designed for dogs 6 months and older and focuses on building the skills that make everyday life together a little easier. We'll work on basic obedience, loose-leash walking, recall, focus around distractions, and more—all while strengthening the relationship between you and your dog.

You don't need a perfectly trained dog to get started. That's what we're here for!

We still have room for a few more teams, and we'd love to have you join us.

Ever feel like your dog forgets everything they know the second something interesting shows up?

You're not alone! And it doesn't necessarily mean your dog is being stubborn or that your training isn't working.

Sometimes, we just need to change how we're setting them up for success.

Here are three things you can try:
- Create more distance. Give your dog enough space to think and respond.
- Reward the check-ins. When your dog chooses to look back at you, let them know that's worth their while.
-Make the exercise easier. If your dog is struggling, adjust the challenge instead of repeating the cue louder.

Remember, the goal isn't to have a dog who never notices the world around them. It's to build a dog who can navigate that world with you.

Because life is easier when you understand each other.

Whether you're raising a new puppy, building better everyday manners, or looking to take your dog's skills into the show ring, we have something for you at The Responsible Dog!

Here's what's available right now:

Puppy Kindergarten
For puppies under 6 months old. Build confidence, learn the basics, and strengthen your bond.
- October 22 at 5:00 PM
- October 27 at 5:00 PM

Beginner Obedience
For dogs 6 months and older. Build essential skills, improve focus, and develop better everyday manners.
- Starts October 20 at 6:00 PM

Obedience III
Take your training beyond the basics with advanced skills, real-world practice, and preparation for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
- Starts October 19 at 6:00 PM

Rally Novice
Build teamwork and learn the foundations of AKC Rally while navigating a course of signs with your dog.
- Tuesdays at 8:00 PM

Rally Intermediate/Advanced
Fine-tune your teamwork, tackle more challenging courses, and continue your rally journey.
- Wednesdays at 6:00 PM

Conformation
Learn to present your dog in the show ring with confidence, from stacking and gaiting to ring patterns and judge examinations.
- Wednesdays at 5:00 PM
